I have been watching this issue very closely as we just bought our 03 TLS about two months ago. So far I have read of one 03 with a tranny failure. Despite this and the approx 35 other tranny failures reported on this site, I don't plan on driving our TLS any differently or letting the possiblity of a problem spoil our experience and enjoyment with this car. I think any percentage of tranny failures greater than 1% is much too high for any car in this class but the odds are greatly in our favor that we will not have a problem so enjoy your ride!

Ya know, I bought my 2003 TL-S about 3 weeks ago and have been nothing but paranoid about the tranny problems!!! I already have 2100 miles and I drive it hard! I want to enjoy this car and agree with you that you have to, without worries.

I feel very bad for all the tranny failures but I can't let that effect the way I drive my car! I may, one day, be one of the victims, but I'm gonna enjoy the drive until I am! (It also helps that I got a 100k mile warranty - no regrets buying that now!!!)

How much does that extended warranty cost? It sounds like a smart move.
