2003 TL-S timing belt replacement
2003 TL-S timing belt replacement
Hi all,
I'm pretty new around here, though I do occasionally lurk. I've been thinking about the timing belt recently due to many repair shops in my area offering 15% off timing belt replacements. Even my Acura dealership is offering a 15% service discount.
My car has about 86,000 miles on it and is 7 years old as of a month ago. Do I need to be thinking about the timing belt replacement yet?
Which maintenance should I fall under? Should I take it in for the 90,000 mile check?

I also forgot to mention it's a Minnesota car. But it's kept inside quite a bit and also is not used for 2-3 months out of the year, and I use it mostly for driving to work/gym/shopping, all of which exist within a 2 mile radius for me. Given that everything is close to me, I do far more driving for pleasure than I do for errands.
The only consideration I'm thinking of is that I plan on driving to Colorado later this summer.
To replace, or not? Hmm...

do it now and ease you worries
harsh winters and short drives are a killer on the car
Ck exactly what they are replacing for that price
Do get tensioner and idler pullies for the extra 120-150 bucks
diy brake and ps fluids now

Replace for sure. Just finished my waterpump/timing belt change less than a month ago so i could make my 2000+ mile from california to wisconsin. Good piece of mind. If you need any help doing it yourself, there are a bunch of info to help walk you through it. Used the diy info to help me.
