2003 TL-S Drivers Seat

I have a 2003 TL-S and my Drivers Seat is the most uncomfortable seat of any car I have ever owned. The seat back has an internal hard skeletal frame which has at its bottom has a horizontal bar that runs right across my lower back and puts pressure on it.

Does anyone know of a fix for this. I think it would need a new skeletal frame in the seat back? I have already disconnected the lumbar.

are you talking about the lumbar support that can be adjusted by the knob on the side or the driver seat?

you can adjust the lumbar support to help your back...

not sure if this helps

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! There is this bar right below the lumbar support thing that is horizontal, if you are sitting upright in the seat, its right at the small of your back on the very bottom of seat area (on the vertical part of the seat). Its fuckin annoying as shit! Grrr!!! I figured I was the only one with this problem, and adjusting the lumbar does not help. I can feel the support changing when I adjust it, but that bar just sits there and pokes out.

I thought they were great when i had a type-s for a loaner for a few days. I prefered them over the TL-P seats for their firmness

Oh yeah, I totally prefer the Type S seats compared to my 99's due to the extra support, but that bar can get on my nerves. I've learned how to sit in the vehicle in order for it not to be poking at my back, but every once and a while I'll hit it just right and it just sucks!

When I first started driving my '02 way back I took it to the dealer about it and they said it was the lumbar I also figured out how to sit without it bothering me, but it can be annoying sometimes.

I know this horizontal bar and I actually removed it. It is not really recommended, but it can be done. I had a problem with my back a few years back and the horizontal bar was so annoying. I finally took the seat apart and remove it. However, I started to go to my chiropractor and there was something wrong with my lower back. So went through therapy, it is all good now.

I have a TL-S and was dissapointed with the seats after selling my 1st Gen CL. The side bolsters on the back cushion just are not close enough. I guess that they were designed with wider people in mind... My roomate has a 2nd Gen CL and there is a big difference.

I opened up the seat and put strips of foam along the side bolsters to fill them out a little more and the seat is almost as comfortable as the CL-S.

Suggestion, go to the crafts store and get some hi-density foam. You can buy it by the foot or in pre-cut sections and add some padding. I would never remove part of the seat. If you are in an accident the seat might crumple or the airbag will not deply correctly. Plus you dont want a loose seat component to impail you, especially if you are already having back pain...
