There was an extension on the extension in US as well, I am just not sure about how many miles exactly over 100,000 but there was an extension for sure. I think it was a result of couple of lawsuits, one because of the tranny issue and I think I saw another one for false odometer readings.

I own a 3.2TL and had issues with the tranny a few days ago, it's driven over 160k and below 175k, Acura is changing the tranny at no cost. You can call the customer relations number on acura.ca tomorrow morning and confirm. Let me know if you need more info.

Really? I wish they extend the warranty to 200,000 miles or 10 years on the tranny. If they are confident that the new tranny design fixes the issues, I don't believe Acura has anything to lose.

Just my $0.02

1 mile = 1.609 kilometers.

If you guys remember, the settlement for the class action suit was for 109,000 miles here in the U.S. If you do the math...

109,000 x 1.609 = 175,381 km.

If anything.. Canadians are getting a little less thatn 109,000 miles... but eh... nothing to be angry over.

I still don't think that nine thousand miles is a sufficient amount of coverage after the class action suit. These cars should run at least to 200k without any major issues like that in my opinion.

Is this for all 02-03's or do you have to be the original owner

Something feels funny in ours but it almost feels like it cant decide what gear to go into when driving around town so it almost feels normal

All 99-02 and certain vin range 03s. There are 5 gears for it to choose from, plus a torque converter that locks and unlocks. That may be what your feeling. OR your driving at just such a speed that is on the edge for the next gear so it tries it but its too low gearing for it.

So... today my car started shifting kind of wierd. Coming home from work, my check engine light came on. Does that indicate a tranny problem or would another light come on? I'm going to bring it to the dealer tomorrow.

I just got a new tranny put in about a month ago, and its alot smoother than they tranny they put in 2 years ago. So I think they might have fixed the issue.

Thumbs up

I got my car back, the car is running fine now, more smoother than the original tranny compared to when I wasn't experienceing any issues (the gears shift more smoother now). I just drove it for 2 days after getting the tranny replaced, hopefully it will stay good.

t7n7, $1400 for the timing belt doesn't sound right, I believe Acura's charge is around $700 for timing belt change for an Acura 3.2TL 2002 Type-S, yours should be around that, so I am not sure what they charged you for. you don't have two timing belts in your car do you? lol

you don't even want to know the trouble my boyfriend and i had with this car...we took it to acura 2000 TWICE they assured us it would be under warranty and then called me two days later saying they could not do it (not to mention the hard time they gave us by telling us we had to find out the previous owners maintaince record...which I had to contact a whole bunch of people INCLUDING the previous owner to ask him where he bought it from because acura 2000 wouldn't tell me)...i went as far as calling honda canada speaking to a csr then the manager then the manager's manager...NOTHING...I had to pay out of my pocket to have a tranny shop fix it...I bought warranty with the car...the dealership where i bought the car told me that they would take care of it...bullshit...they took my car for 3 days drove it around stole my boyfriends 400 dollar pair of sunglasses took it to the tranny shop and it was there for 13 more days...btw I had to pay the rental fee for the car...I get the car back, and it starts throwing itself into neutral again....I took it back and the same shit...
i'm pretty pissed off...

I'm sorry to hear that, paying with you own $$ for a tranny must be a huge pain in the ass.

Acura 2000 is the worst! When I went in to get my trans. fixed (is and still under warranty), they messed up my interior driver's side door and carpet, the driver's side door was all muddy and smeared with dirt, I have no idea what happened. They did not provide me with a rental either. On the other hand the Toyota dealer right beside it has 10x better service, when I go in and get my mom's camry maintenanced, they wash the car everytime, dry it and even put tire gel on, really good service.

you're telling me, and then having shit STOLEN out of your car...650 rental bill 500 for the warranty, 400 dollar pair of versace glasses...and loss time at work is surely going to piss you off...

on top of that the collection of fine crap called me and asked for a 100 dollar deductible....what nerve i didn't pay him though...after he drove my car around for 3 days that was 150 dollars of rental car I paid so he could enjoy my car...lovely...

OK, got my car back. Tranny is OK. Not only that, I found out they *did* replace the tranny in 2005. When I bought the car I called the dealer and they said they only installed the jet kit so I assumed the car had the original tranny.

CEL was because of a loose gas cap (I am kicking myself for that). Not sure why it felt like the car was shifting abnormally. I had the feeling it was not shifting right all day, THEN the CEL came on so I thought I was f-ed for sure.

If you paid the dealer for any trans work and your car is still under the warranty period you can get reimbursed. If you went elsewhere other than the dealer your sol

The dealer would of charged 4000 the warranty company only would allow 2500
I bought a warranty from a company
i got royally stiffed...
i'm still going to write a letter to Honda Canada...I have the exact problem with my tranny that every other TL has...they said my vin wasn't in the numbers that were effected...its just such a coincidence that my TL had the exact problem with the defective transmissions...it's a huge mess...
