Question 2002 TL and Gas.

MY dad is looking into a 2002 TL. Not the Type-S. The question I have is that Acura states both the TL and TL-S require 91 octane gas. I can see why the S requires that as it has a 10.5:1 compression ratio. The TL however uses a 9.8:1 compression ratio. Has anyone here had any experiance running the TL on 87 or 89 octane gas? Notice any problems. Knocking, Power Loss, or Decreased gas mileage?

they wouldnt tell us to use it if they didnt think it would prolong the life of the car...i would never use anything less...it keeps carbon build up from corroding your engine as well...Shyne

Remember that TL was around before the Type-S version was on the drawing board. The owners manual claerly states 91 octane or higher.
