2002 Models are better Looking

i may be bias but i think the 2002 models of the TLs and CLs have a much better looking front view as compared with the other Acura models. 'specially viewed from a slight angle.

the headlights give it a more aggressive "pissed off samurai" edgy look. the older models and the newer CLs dont seem to exude enough aggression.

ive had my car for about 2 years now and i still enjoy looking at it. not trying to offend anybody but just sparking discussion.

Don't the new CL-S's look pretty much the same as the 2002 CL-S's except for the tinted lights?

I know the 2003 TL-S doesnt really look any different than the 2002 TL-S.

I remember when I first got my TL-S, and posted pictures two year ago this March. Quite a few members thought the new front end looked like a "beak", and thought it looked odd.

Now, I find the look of the 99-01 TL front end is the one that looks odd.

the "older" model 2001 is the exact same as 2002, except the side mirrors ar slightly larger in the 2001.

The 2002 look is what it took to get me to buy the TL. IMHO, the pre 2002 TLs from the front look like my 1998 Accord.

and another thing...

Suspect transmission aside (knocks on wood), I am glad that I got my 02 TL-S when I did. I am not feeling the new design direction that honda/acura is going in.

99 TL RULES!!!:worship:

IMO, the 02+ front end looks out of place. It is too big and it is not proportionate to the rest of the body.:p

I concur!

I just don't understand why they left the fogs off of the 99tl.
It just doesn't make sense. You put the space but then leaving it out makes it look like you forgot to put in the fogs. But I still prefer the look of the 99 w/aftermarket fogs.

and don't forget the solid tranny and chrome shift plate

i hate it when you pick up a decked out, fully made up and accessorized hot chick in a bar and when you get home she is actually older, uglier, flatter than what you thought.

did she switch with the 7/11 attendant when she walked in to buy some evian???

No ones mentioned the rims... the new TL-P rims bite... the older double spoke rims were way better...

HAHHAHAHAHA!!!

I like the big front on the newer TL. It makes it look meaner and more aggressive.

I too like the '02-'03 TL front end more. The redesigned front end was the main reason why I purchased the TL over the new ES300. I really like the luxurious looking interior of the ES300, but the ES300 headlights are freaking ugly. The ES300's front end looks like some kind of insect or rodent. I wish they didn't flare up the headlights that much. The new Camry headlights should have been the new ES300's headlights. The '02-03 TL front end I like since it sparks up more emotion and looks aggressive. The grille is larger and better shaped than the '99-'01 TL. The '02-'03 TL headlights are more stylish than the bland 98-02 Accord looking headlights that the '99-'01 TL has. I agree with "BlackShadow" that it is too big and it is not proportionate to the rest of the body. The styling of the TL when designed in 1998 was for a classy and elegant look with some sportiness such as the low profile look and the dual stainless steel exhaust pipes. The front end redo for the '02-'03 TL clearly doesn't look classy, but more muscular which in turn, doesn't flow with the rest of the body of the car. Lastly, is it me or does the '02-'03 TL front end resemble Mercedes from the ninties? I think it's the way the grille is shaped.

Dirk Diggler.
You are so right. In fact, every time my wife sees a pre-2002 TL, she says there are the nice mags.

The 99 TL's headlights are nice and the rims are better looking than the 02-03 TL-P, but The 02-03 is better looking than the old fashioned styled 99's. The 02-03 front's gives the TL a more of a 2000's look as oppose to the 99 body style.

I hate how the '99-01 TL stock rims look. Aren't they a pain to clean?

What are you smoking?

The 99-03 body style is all the same. Only the front end is different (99-01 vs. 02+).

I agree. It's one of the reasons I purchased a 2003 TL-S. The front is very contemporary and has an agressive, yet tasteful look. Even though the overall design is 5 yrs old, I think the subtle restyling in 02 will keep the car looking fresh for years (even when the new TL comes out). I mean look at the new TSX and it's grille. It's very similar to the TL. Also, the tires and rims on the type S really make a difference.
