Post 2001 JD Power List for Real?

Check out this list that some other member on here listed earlier. The TL is doing great, ranked #3 from a list of 178.

However the Acura CL is listed as #99. They are both built in the same factories in Ohio I believe, but why such a difference between the 2?

Maybe the list is no good, but it also shows you that even some of the most expensive cars whether made in the US, Japan or Germany still have quality issues to contend with. I guess you just have to be lucky and play the odds. Lexus is still king in terms of reliability and quality.

I'm sure if you search for it, JD Powers is a respectable service that most have heard of, so they will have their own website. But you see what I mean in terms of the listings. CL towards the middle to bottom and TL at the top. Doesn't make sense. Must be skewed, since reported by consumers, but on the other hand JD Power is the benchmark in reporting vehicle quality.

Ya, I see what u mean. Very good question, since TL and CL's parts are very similar. However I simply think that CL isn't as a good package as the TL. So maybe the CL owners are just unhappy with their cars and they give it bad reviews

Well if you think about it, the CL was in tis first year of production, it's likely that the CL has many more smaller problem than 00, and 01 TL which has been in production for few years now.

Did anyone else notice that 5 of the top 10, and 9 of the top 20 are from Toyota/Lexus? That's incredible. I've always been impressed with Honda/Acura's quality, but I think I need to take a look at Toyota/Lexus next time. Maybe I should replace my wife's Windstar (#166) with a Sienna (#15).

CL vs. TL difference could be skewed due to the CL that was measured in that study was 2000 model, which was a first-year model that still had some bugs.

Also, CL attracts a younger more performance-oriented crowd, and this demographic might be more vocal in reporting their problems while TL owners simply don't give a damn. Who knows...
