So the other day I took off my catalitic converter, and just cut the wier for the oxygen sensor attached to the cat (now know that was a very bad thing to do). Anyways I took it for a ride when I was done and wen I turned out of my naborhood it shifted kinda hard and the d5 started flashing and wouldn't shift out of 5th. The next day I drove it up to pep boys to get the codes read and got the p1768 and 2 others I don't remember, on the way back the battery started to die and I barely made it to my house. I really attached the oxygen sensor after that, just to be safe but all problems still exists, can find anyour blown fuzes, I'm stumped please healp

a low battery condition will cause poor running- as many sensors depend on accurate steady voltage to perform correctly

So I could have just fried the battery to a point where it won't charge?Originally Posted by 01tl4tl

Well I took it to a mechanic and they told me it needed a new altinator and transmission controll solinoid, took it back home and replaced thoes parts but it seams to have done nothing, still same problems.
Drifting
You might want to try replacing the O2 sensor with a new one. Some O2 sensors breath inbetween the wire and the insulation to ambient air. It compares the exhaust to the ambient air by way of the O2 sensor wiring. Yes, the sensor is that sensitive.

Would that cause the d5 to fash though? By the way I didn't know what to do with the sensor when I took of the cat, so I just hose clamped it to the side.Originally Posted by 01acls
