2001 ACURA TL 3.2 Transmission Fluid Drain & Fill After Fill up Questions
Hello,
It has been awhile so yesterday i did a Drain & Fill of my 2001 Acura TL 3.2 Transmission I have a few questions after the Fill Vehicle currently has 240,412 miles
So i use a 5qt bucket (Empty Bucket weighs 4.55.0z) to catch all the old dirty Transmission Fluid and i weigh it on scale what i got (aside from a small unknown amount???? that spilled on the ground) so what i got in the bucket was 108,8 ounces of old Fluid which is almost 4qts(128 ounces) So today i took it for a little drive where i shifted through all the Gears P R N D5 D4 D3 1 2 etc just to get the new Fluid Cycled through all the Gears So i cannot tell what the correct true level of Fluid is on the Dipstick because the fluid has went up the dipstick dipstick well past the 2 HOLES on the Dipstick
It's weird though because i checked the Trans Fluid Level before i started the car and let the engine idle and then took it for a drive about 9 miles and it was still past the 2 HOLES
You are supposed to check the Trans Fluid only after Driving the Car around a little right to heat up the Fluid? Engine oil is to be checked only when cold!
I am gonna guesstimate that i spilled roughly 5 ounces of old Trans Fluid on the Ground again that is just me guessing.
Do you think the 107 ounces roughly of New Fluid i added is enough or should i try to get atleast the full 4qts(128 ounces) of new fluid in i am short roughly 21 ounces GUESSTIMATION
I get how Precise you have to be when replacing fluid but now i am just feeling a little paranoid i will check it again tomorrow after letting just the engine idle to warm up but not Drive it.
Your Guys thoughts and experiences?

Then the ATF dip stick is to be removed to determine ATF level.
Do EXACTLY what is shown below and you will have no trouble determining your current ATF level:

Follow what Zeta posted.
You are overthinking it, generally when you pull the drain plug you get about 3qts, more if you jack the car to allow more drainage.

You also seem to be mixing units of measurement. You weighed the oil in Ounces, yet you said you got almost 4 qts (128 ounces). Quarts/Fluid ounces are volume. Weight doesn't change with temperature volume does. A fluid ounce of ATF does not weigh an ounce.
Point being, like Jon said, you're overthinking this.
My driveway slopes upward a bit to my garage. I do the drain/fill in the driveway. So when I jack up the front, I'm far from being on "level ground". First time I drained I measured out a bit more than 3qt (by volume). I simply poured in 3 qts, went for a drive, stopped on a reasonably level surface, and checked the dipstick. Adjust as needed. Zeta said to make sure you wipe the dipstick clean. I also check the level around 3 or 4 times to make sure they're consistent. Since I do this in the same spot, I don't measure the drain any more. Just pour 3 qts in and carry on.

As Zeta said it's up to you. There are two tranny fluid filters, one is internal in the tranny which is not available to change unless you took apart the transmission, the other is the external one that Zeta pointed out. It is a minor pain to get off (bolts are kind of a pain to get to) but I would change it out as frequently as you can afford. Lots cheaper than redoing the tranny.

I Got More than 4 Quarts I attribute it to Raising the Vehicle As high as My Pump Jack and Jack Stands would let me go and Jack it up so it leans more to the side of the Transmission Drain Bolt.
However that Fluid is HOT!!!!!!!!!
so it shot out with so much force some of it (like splashed out of the Container and onto the ground true amount is unknown?) This is the Actual Container i use so the Container weighs 4.55.0z when empty I use one for Dirty Transmission Fluid and a Identical one for the Clean Transmission Fluid Fill I Swear unless my Eyes were lying to me i saw the Dirty Fluid go past the 4qt 128 oz line and that is again not accounting for the unknown amount????? of fluid that ended up on the ground.
this is my 2nd time ever doing it on my 2001 TL and the first time i didn't jack it up the way i did this time which i attribute to only getting like just a little over 3 Quarts of Dirty Fluid out, The First time was probably a little over 2 years ago, So it was time to Drain & Fill, However this next time i do a Drain and Fill i am gonna pay a Transmission Specialist to do and also Change the External Fluid Filter.
This is the 5 Quart Bucket i use to Catch the old Transmission Fluid out of the Drain Bolt Hole You can get them at Lowes
