2000 TL - Alarm not activating problem
This is my first time posting to this site, so hope someone can help out.
I had several occassions where the alarm would trigger for no apparent reason. Then just recently the alarm stopped activating altogether. The remote does lock the doors after pressing once, but no chirp after 2nd press (do hear the locks actuating down again). I suspect?? the trunk sensor not engaging somehow, but not sure how to test it. The trunk appears to close fine, as the dash trunk indicator does not light up. Also, the remote panic button does trigger the alarm sound. Any ideas would be appreciated.

i'm a new user to this forum and can really use your help. not sure if i posted correctly as i havn't received any hits to my original problem. after reading some other posts i can tell this community is sharp. look forward to your responses.
I don't believe this problem is unheard of, use the search feature to find out. But I don't believe anyone can know what has caused that problem, perhaps it's the hood sensor?
You'll probably have to take it to the dealership.

Exact same issue
Wow, the alarm you describe is the EXACT same issue I am having. Have had the alarm go off at random from time to time and cannot seem to nail down the problem. Has not happened in awhile but yesterday I noticed the alarm no longer sets. Again, same issue as what you describe. Same car too, '00 TL.
Did you get any resolution?

It might be some sensor in the hood. I would pop it open and have a looksee around the edges, see if you can identify where it is. It might have gotten bumped or disconnected or something.
Not that I know anything about electronics, but I'd check all the fuses too. Not sure which three of the panels would have it.

i had this problem a while back. i would hit the lock button and the doors would lock but no beep.then after looking around i found out that my driverside back doors lock was stuck in the unlock position. after i put the lock up n down with my hand it worked fine.....what im saying is that u might have a similar problem, so after locking your car go around and check everything (locks/doors/hood/trunk)

Locks ok - possible hood sensor
I checked all the locks, all seem ok. However I opened the hood and the alarm started working again. So, I suspect the issue is with the hood sensor. I found the sensor, it's not a true switch but some kind of sensor. Guess I'll check with the dealer and see how much this thing costs.
Anybody have any experience with the hood sensor?
Thanks
Jim
