Its not plug and play sorry.

The outer case is different. You need to swap it over.

^ I did the swap myself on my 2000 with an 03 Type-S engine. What do you mean by outer case ? Trans ? they all bolt up just fine except for the 99 because of wiring and many other things.
Then its up to you if want to change the ECU for higher RPM range but I would stay away from that since it will look for the VSA module and set the CEL (wont pass inspection in most states) plus you'll need to reprogram the ECU to accept your key.

Theres a workaround to make the IMRC work but me being cheap I just made it stay open.

^ That makes me wonder how much HP would the J32A2 Deliver with the J32A1 ECU if most of the power of the J32A2 is made well over the J32A1 Redline.

Not sure on the numbers but I can tell you theres a hell of a difference in power between the two. I did try a type-s ecu but my wheel alignment wasn't good at the time.

if you are needing more power - add a turbo or supercharger
transmission limitations apply~

What is the rear main seal? Is this the part the connects the engine block to the transmission?

Rear main seal is a oil seal on the end of the block (transmission side) that is easiest replaces with the trans off. Its a 8-10$ part. Its known to leak on the type-s motor.
