1999 Tranny Advice needed

My 99TL finally shows signs of tranny failures. Since I have 145K on it, warranty is out of the question.

What is the best way to fix, bring it to the dealership or do it somewhere else? Do I need to replace or is there something else to fix? And how much it would typically cost?

Thanks for your advice.

Steiner.

If your 99 has the 4 speed- thats good, take it to any name brand rebuilder in town and ask how many TL transmisssions they have actually done- ask for referances from TL owners- not other type transmissions

Usually in the $2500 range parts and labor- assuming all computers are well and getting all new clutch packs and seals and whatevers

I would ask Acura anyway (doesn't hurt). They might be willing to split the cost with you.

I didn't actually think Acura would do something like that, but I called anyway (and like you said, it doesn't hurt).

To my surprise, they looked at my record (a loyal customer with 4 Acura bought, faithful service at dealership always) and said as a good will gesture, they would pay for 1/2 the cost!

Thank you for your suggestion. I would never call if not for your message.
