Post 15K service

I am just wondering how much did all of you paid for the 15K service.

My bill was $309 at Acura of Pleasanton.

Quiet high for 15K service. So far my bill for service has gone from $110 for 7.5k to $309 for 15k. Does this mean the 30K service would be around $600-$700 range.

Why can't Acura offer free main. such as BMW???????

hey, my 15K service was also in the $300 dollar range, and I did it. I know that this might sound crazy, but I'm trying to do all my scheduled services at the dealer. I just feel that so I wouldn't miss anything...

I guess NJ and Bayarea are the most expansive place to maintain your car.

Although service at Acura of Pleasanton was nice. But the price is steep. I have now went to Steven Creek, Pleasanton, and sunnyvale. The price are consistently high.

I guess this is the price you pay to live in silicon valley. salary is higher, but cost are higher too.

Why is anyone paying for a 15K service. This car is a 100,000 maintenance free... The only thing you need to keep up with is oil changes, tire rotation........ Wasting money

I agree with Joneschop. I just took mine in for an oil change (free coupon) and they wanted also to do the 7,500 mile check. After deducting the oil change cost, they were going to charge me about $70 to rotate the tires. Everything else was a "check/inspect" item that would be redundant at this point in time. I can do my own oil for about $10 and the tires for about 20 minutes of labor. I'd rather spend the money for mods (eventually)!

That's a lot of money for 15k service..

I am going to do it myself.

For 15k service most of them is just checking...
also air filter and so on. It's not that hard to do it.

Just my 2 cents

The 15K service is a ripoff. The only REAL work they do is the oil change, tranny fluid change and rotate your tires. You can do almost all of them on your own, I usually leave it to the dealer to do the tranny fluid, since they have a machine to suck all the old fluid out.

The dealer charged me $70 for the tranny fluid change, and the rest I did myself. I think I can check/top off all the fluids in the car and not pay the dealer additional $230 to do that.

Most of those chain lube shops (like Jiffy Lube) will include all of the items on the list except the tire rotation as part of the lube job price.

It's a big waste of money to go to Acura when you can go elsewhere and get the same job for $35, or better yet, do it yourself and know the job was done right. That's what I like to do!

Because, they don't charge for it up-front like the BMW.....what in your opinion, would a BMW sized/optioned similarly to the Acura 3.2TL (BMW 530i) cost ? 50k ?? I am not considering the sub-compact 330i for comparing with the mid-size TL. No wonder, they can toss in "free" scheduled maintenance after the price charged for the car.....

Also, I hope that you are leasing the BMW since once that "free" (Hah!!) period expires, I would not want to be paying for the Whoppers that you would be paying for repair/service.....

just my 2c

The reason that I do all my maint. at the dealer is because I don't want to ran into problem later with warranty issues.

I had several incidence with my accord on this very same issue before.

Granted i know that 15K services can be done at local jiffy lube for about $100 max. But for 15k service i still would prefer to go back to the dealer.

Again, I am just baffled at the cost of maint. a car through the dealer in the bay area.

As far as Bimmer goes, I do not plan to keep the car for more than 3 year anyway. I already taken this into consideration when I bought the car. Again, I like Bimmer's philosophy in dealing with customer better. Why should the customer go to outside service provider?

Also, I was told by my BMW dealer that the maint. program can be extended to 7 year 100k for about $800 (non refundable).

In other words for about $800 all my maint. are BMW's responsibility.

Given that my current bill has so far, the cost over the same period for a Acura would be as follows:

7.5k, 22.5k, 37.5k, 52.5k, 67.5k,=$500
15K, 45K, 75K=$1000
30K, 60K, 90k=$1500
oil change 15X$50= $750 (synthetic)

Overall through out the same time frame I would be paying close to $4k to maintain the car. In other words, it would cost us TL owner about $35K to own this car.

For about $8k more you can own a 330i for about the same time frame.

To me, that's 8K spend on a better handling machine.

Do you think it is worth it to get the 15K service if it only cost $180? I don't have the time or the tools to do this myself, but I sure as heck don't want to spend a gripload of money on it either...

I would definitely do the scheduled maintance at the dealer and save all your receipts for oil changes if you don't do them at the dealer inbetween the sched.maint.

I work in the service dept. at a dealership and this is something we look for when a car is out of warranty or we are going to "goodwill" a repair. A little ($$$$) spent now may save a lot spent later!!! Good luck to all. I'm about to get my first oil change at the dealer.

I made an appointment for my 15K today for next Wendsday.
I always tell them not to rotate the tires that will save a few dollars. I have always taken my cars to dealer for service & keep all paperwork. Iam not at home at the present time & do not have the maintenance book from my dealer.I did look at the owners manual for service & checked off a few things to be done. I wan't the air filter raplaced & a/c filter replaced. I am not sure if one or the other is do for replacement at this service. I go by the servere schedule in the owners manual. My car is nearing 2yrs & I go by the months not the miles. I also was drivng about 10 miles per day stop & go this comes under the severe driving section.
The parking brake needs adjusting I know they do that at 15K service. I also told them about warranty work that needed to be done. This would be the creaking seat even if it only did it once.
They will have a record of this & I have that missing screws with center armrest not & closing tight. Someone posted that the car is maintenance free for 100,000 miles thats only for Tune -Ups.
I would much rather trust my car with an Acura Tech than Joe Blow form Jiffy Lube. I agree that there are some quality service places other than the dealer. We are paying for Labor at Acura dealerships. When you go to Jiffy Lube that sevice tech is making far less money than Acura tech. I know some of you have had crappy service from some dealerships but others have not.

I'm new to the board (former SHO member) but you guys pay a lot for those services huh? Is the service the same for the TL & 6gen Accord V6? I paid $107 (including tax) for my 15K miles service @ Honda dealer!

That sucks that you guys are paying so much for maintenance.
I got my car from John Eagle Acura here in Houston. It's free maintenance for two whole years! I'm already at 11k miles and it's only been 9 months. It was a sweet deal :p

That's outrageous! I'll bet that service here at our local Acura dealer would be just as high or even higher (there's only 1 Acura dealer on the island ) So I refuse to pay for service that I can do myself. Save the receipts, log it in the service history manual and I'm all set.

Don't forget, you *can* get your regular service done at a plain ol' vanilla Honda dealership and it won't void your warranty. You may not get the wash, vacuum or cappachino but it'll probably cost a lot less. Call your nearest Honda dealer and find out what they charge.

Thumbs up John Eagle - Houston

I was extremely pleased with my experience at John Eagle. I went to 5 dealers in Houston and they wanted not only sticker, but another $1,000 for sealants! John Eagle not only knocked $1,500 off, but gave me free maintainance for 2 years, free sealants with a guarantee on both the paint and leather. I didn't ask for either of these. They also loan you a car if you schedule your service in advance.

This is the best buying experience I have ever had.

I have an appt at Park Ave Acura for next week, but i think they said it would be @ $200. I have to have some other things fixed too so might as well do it at the same time.

Does anyone know if PAA has RSX's for loaners yet???

My car is at the dealership at this very moment getting its 15K service done. I had an appointment & it was a few warranty things to look at & fix. I also asked them to change A/C Filter & Air Cleaner. I had this done because the car is nearing 2yrs & under the severe driving section in the owners manual they say replace it. This would be short distance drivng in stop & go traffic.
I also had Armrest that pops -up own its own.& has missing screws. I also wanted them to have the creaking drivers seat on record. It only did it one day the whole day but have not did it since. They gave me a 2001 Integra loaner car to drive but I miss the TL. They have had the car allday so I don't know when I will get it back. They had alot of cars in for service the most I have seen. I think alot of people are getting ready to hit the road for holiday. I notice this also when I took my neighbor to have his car service at a Lincoln dealer Monday.
