1400 for a headlight!
hey guys, im sure most of you are aware of the problem with the headlights getting foggy and such. well my passenger headlight has been getting worse. i washed my car on sat and the light got a little foggy as usual. sat night i turn on my lights and no light coming from the passenger side, and the light is foggy as hell and has some water in it. went to the dealer today in the afternoon. guy told me its $1400 to fix this "issue".
Assembly= 279.59
Bulb= 175.19
Inverter= 675.73
Labor= 157.50
TOTAL= 1381.27
there is no chance that i am gonna pay 1400 for a single headlight.
what do i do here? any and all suggestions welcome. thanks

DIY FTW.
You can cheap out like me and get a pair of D2R HID's for 50$ shipped from DDM Tuning. I don't know the lifespan, but they're holding up well. If the inside of the assembly is messed up, bake it and open it up to clean it and reseal it with new silicone (might as well clear it out and black it out while your at it ) I don't know about the inverter, you sure you need a new one?

Take your existing head light out and reseal it. Dont go replacing every thing, especially things not needed like the bulb and inverter. New bulbs may be required but if you fix this before larger issues you dont need to spend that much. Do it yourself. Its not hard.
Also buy your parts here. No way would i pay those prices

Or go used

yessir, best thing to do is to do it yourself. there is no way that inverter will run you 600 bucks. the dealer is ripping you off. you're better off buying a used one by posting a WTB on the black market or going on ebay to look for the inverter. your inverter isnt fried until your inverter is like mine (shit deep in water)

see our vendor Excelerate for good bulbs- at 109- per PAIR~ special ziner price
Many gen2 are at a point in time where the bulbs are getting weak, showing pink tint when first turned on etc.,,,then one fails totally

since most of us are aware of the problem with the headlights...
WE also make a point of NOT spraying water directly at them~~!
especially pressure boosted car wash wands!!!
If you see moisture inside the lens ever- replace the housing (check the bay) or reseal it NOW before water does fill it and then drip onto the other electricals below- frying them

Sounds like the dealer is guessing at the repair on your dime. New inverter? I'd go the process of elimination route. Change out the bulb for $8.00, check the ground and harness connections. Still no luck- try every online parts site you can think of b4 you pop for the inverter. Try also, RockAuto.com.
