the 2.7T engine starts both turbo right from the beginning...

they put 2 small turbos instead of a large one to reduce the turbo lag but with same or better output...a very smart design...

therefore they operate same as the single turbo engine...but just have 2 small turbos instead of a big one

The problem with the Audi turbos(KKK) is that they lack on the top end...that is always the problem with fast spooling turbos..they run out of gas.

The manual CLS should have much better top end acceleration. I predict that thing will be as good as a German car on the top end. I really don't see why it wouldn't.

in germany there's a hwy called AUTOBAHN...it has no spd limits and it's built across the whole country...and cars on autobahn are going for max spd...even at the right lane cars are going at least 120mph...the V8 bimmers and MBs are going 155mph at the middle lane...and the porsche 911TT maybe running 180 or faster at fast lane!!! even the diesel taxi are running at 120mph all time...

oh...that is the AUTO M3...with only 240hp and 240lb of torque...
mid 5s with the stick but a bit slower with the 5spd auto...and not to mention that car is 4 yrs old already...

yes...M3 can pull a lot faster at top end...coz they don't have overdrive gear!!! the 5th gear ratio is 1:1 and the top spd is 155mph
www.bmwusa.com

Most non sport BMWs are limited to a VERY LOWLY 128 MPH. About 20 short for consideration with regards what we're talking here. Their fun stops about the time we get back in VTEC range in 4th...

yes u r rite...not from idle, whatever it kicks in at somewat 1800rpm...it's design for V8 power and smoothness with better fuel economy...not reallie going for racing type...

supra's second turbo kicks in about 3500rpm and pull all the way to the redline...so it has incredible accerlation...

The twin turbos in Audi's 2.7l engines are not sequential, they are in parallel. One turbo spins from one bank of the V-6. They both pressurize one throttle body. The torque specs show max torque from 1800 rpm to 4500 I believe. ( I will dig them up now so I can stop guessing) That would mean that the turbos are fully spooled up just before the torque peak, probably about 1500-1600 rpm.
Two small turbos does have a disadvantage. The top end output will be slightly lower than if a larger turbo was used.

Hey, Jim. Is there a way where you can put it into squential mode? I know for my car i can do a TTC(true twin turbo conversion) where i can make both of my turbos come online. My freind did it to his car and he says the power curve is smoother but there is a lil bit more lag. Did you get any mods done to your car yet?

I drove the six speed last summer at Acura's test facility in Torrance (they paid me $200 to do it) last summer. It was so fu@king fast! At one point I revved the engine and popped the clutch from a dead stop and the wheels spun with wreckless abandon. I never got close to sixth gear, including freeway driving. I'm worried about that car when it hits the street...it's going to piss off a lot of people.
