1/4 mile run 6 speed

Finally went to the 1/4 mile today. Put down a 13.7 at 102.
I will go again once I upgrade my suspension cause I was not really able to launch car, too much wheel hop and spinning. By the way it was 82 degrees out also.

thanks guys, also once I get some better suspension im gonna be shooting for 13.5s hopefully Ill be able to get a decent launch then. The plan is to get to a 2.0 in the 60ft mark or so then ill be at a 13.5 or even better.

Very nice. If you get that 60' down to 2.0, you will see 13.3-13.4.

I already have some good summer tires. I think suspension is my biggest problem to achieve a good launch.

NT555R is a true drag radial, not a summer tire! Should get you to a 2.0x sixty foot with no other changes. Maybe even 1.90's. You gotta admit, the possibility of beating 335i's and IS350's from a light is an entertaining idea!

Very entertaining idea . Right now I have some Dunlop direzza sport z1 star specs. These have a 200 tread wear and are very soft but my problem is wheel hop then leads to some spinning. So im gonna throw on some koni yellows and see if It will help first. If I can get rid of the wheel hop I'm sure a 2.0 sixty is gonna be achievable.

Yea, we get it, drag radials. But at this point suspension will yield him the same results as them. Shocks got me 3/10s due to being able to launch with little to no wheel hop. I still need a upper motor mount to get rid of the last of it.

That should do it (spend the time to set rebound and dampening) It will help tremendously. (as long as you have traction) I have little to no wheel hop since adding them (with H&R sport springs)

Update

Went to the track last night with new suspension. It was 65 degrees out and I ran a 13.8 3 times with high 2.3 0-60ft marks. Put in 6 runs in all 3 had bad wheel hop and spinning or missed a gear. All in all the suspension did not help maybe I need to stiffen it more but I dont know Ill try next time. My 60ft times were not very good, best was a 2.2 but i missed second gear on that run. trapping around 103mph so pretty good for crappy launches.

In your three slips above, your 60' times are incredibly close, within twelve thousands' of a second if I am reading it right. Fantastic.

Did you take the time to adjust the rebound BEFORE you installed them? That setting on the Koni has to be done OFF the car and with the spring off. Dampening can be adjusted with the knob. Im surprised you have axle hop with the 85a mounts and new shocks. Get the stiffy mount or one similar.

If you mean compressing the strut and twisting it adjusts the rebound I did that one full rotation 360* in the direction it shows in the instructions. Also Im starting to question if my rear mount is going bad. If I rev my engine it barley moves which is good but under load may be a different story. I might try the stiffy mount but to me this seems pointless cause my side mount looks very stiff.

I think i finally (after a day of testing) have mine at 2 full turns.

Side mount doesnt really help the motor from rocking. It really needs a upper mount(s) like GM has used (im looking into making one when i finally get the new motor put together and dropped in)

Also if you are having that much. During the motor swap did you take off the radius rods? If so did you install the bushings correctly? Yours may be worn. Id like to get a set of urethane bushings or harder rubber for mine.

No I didnt take them off maybe they are wore out. Having a upper mount like the one you posted looks like it would be a great idea.

Hey question, have you ever over revd your engine?

I would check them out for any play, it would cause it. Yea, i know it would help greatly. Plus probably keep the stock mounts from blowing up. I have been thru 3 front mounts since the swap and need to replace it again.

Slightly, about 76-7800. Nothing like your 9k.

no, im going to continue to run stock mounts. Im going to window weld the front but that is it. I fully plan on making a upper mount to stop the engine movement.
