03 tl type s mpg

Hello everybody, I've had my 03 tl type s for about a month and a half now. I want to ask others that have a 03 tl type s a question. I know the statistics estimated mpg. But I want to hear from other owners, I fill up my tank with 45$ plus , it lasts me about a week. I don't baby the gas pedal but I am also not too heavy with the gas pedal, is this a normal time span for other 03 tl type s owners? Thank you!

Sounds about right.. Most of us discuss gas savings as "MPGs" as start ups take a hit on gas in the mornings so the mileage on a tank per week basis can vary a lot...

I usually get 30 hwy and 24 city with an average of 26.. Which is kinda the tops you can expect.

You cant go off of how many days you go. You need to fill it up, reset the mileage and actually figure it out by how many miles you drive and how many gallons you use. Also you dont mention if your driving is all city, hwy or mix. Everything makes a difference as to how your MPG results look as far as being normal or not.

During any given week of regular driving, my '03 TL-S sees a good amount of 35-45 MPH roads with some stop signs and stop lights and a small amount of interstate driving. Under these conditions, I get a steady 21 MPG tank after tank, with somewhat of a drop in the winter.

I've had the car for a little over 3 months now and consistently get around 21 mpg mixed driving. A lot better than my previous car (2006 Infiniti M45) that got 15mpg

Welcome Mathievv !!!
There's alot of variables as Fsttyms1 previously pointed out. There's no actual way to know if your TL is normal or not, by simply telling us that you are putting $45.00 worth of gas weekly into your car. Try filling up with a premium grade of gas, write down the mileage and then when you've driven the car until it's at a 1/4 tank.....refill at the same place and again write down the accumulated total mileage driven since the last fill-up.

For instance, if you drove 300 miles and when it was time to refill you put 10 gallons of gas in the tank to top it off, your actual mpg would be 30 mpg. This would be great if you primarily drove longer distances. However, stop and go city driving along with the way you drive will have a dramatic affect on the mpg, perhaps around 20 mpg. So, with that being said....there's no way that we can accurately answer your question until you actually calculate your miles driven per gallon.

seafoam the tank twice at 1 can to just under half tank (8 gallons)
install new NGK spark plugs- the 8 dollar each ones
replace the air filter
replace the CABIN air filter (probably never been done)

a free download of the owner book with lots of operating tips and info is at
Acura Owners Site | Exclusive Knowledge, Service, & Benefits
and register at acura care 1 800 382 2238 x5 for human. ask if all recalls taken care of
Need cars VIN for both those places

Tires, stock type and size 36 psi for better mpg

EGR system cleaning for improved running

then enjoy your new toy!

note the low fuel light comes on with approx. 3 gal remaining in tank of which approx. 2.5 can be used, but better to refill before dead empty
You have some miles to find a station you like
Tier 1 branded gas is better- contains more cleaners (goggle for names of brands)
Use ONLY 91, or 94 octane gas if you can get it
