03 TL-S Check Engine Light
I purchased my 03 TL-S yesterday from a dealer and when I drove it home, the check engine light was not on. It was only after I started it up this morning, that it was on. I drove it around to see if there were any problems, but everything seems fine. It has 94k miles and I'm not sure if the engine has been replaced previously by the owner or not. I've read the manual and they said it could be a loose gas cap. I've tightened it and took it for a drive but it continues to stay on. The manual says it takes about 3 trips in order for the light to dissapear but I believe it's not the gas cap problem. If I do take it to a dealer, how much will it cost for them to run the codes?

Okay, I've tried going to Kragen's Auto Parts and Autozone but they no longer do it for free. So, I'm guessing I have to pay otherwise. I took a drive around my neighborhood this morning and I realized whenever I lay on the gas (slowly of course), it makes a ticking sound in the engine bay somewhere. My friend has an Accord with relatively the same engine with less horsepower and he has the same problem to. Could there be something wrong here?
you just bought it from an acura dealer- do NOT clear the codes, the tech needs to be able to read them for clues to the problem
They should NOT charge you on a car you just purchased from them
there are legal issues especially in Ca,
call the Service Dept and tell them you bought it and now a check light is on- yes you tried removing and putting the gas cap on and it is turned until 3 clicks are heard
--then drop it off-
its holiday weekend so no point in dropping it today. no skilled tech on sat even if they were open
dont call sales dept- call service
have you put gas in it- or did it come with a full tank?
it no one has touched the cap recently thats not likely the issue, but do remove and visually check the rubber oring is good- not cracked, and put cap on till 3 clicks are heard ...click,,click..click
might get lucky and take it in right now if you call

From: The grande.. Riverdale NJ.. Hopefully moving to skyline village in Lincoln park NJ..yes dirty jersey
Why dont u take it back to where you bought it, If you just bought it they should at least run the codes for u if not fix it...
I dunno about Cali but i work at a dlr in NJ and on the contract it states that we have to garentee the car passes inspection with a CEL i dont think it will pass inspection..
When you excelerate slowly do u feel grinding on the gas pedal a little?
The ticking could be a purge valve but that would no cause a CEL.
