Got a offer for a 5mt is300 for even trade for my 2nd gen tl-s. Is is stock 87k on it my tl has 105k and is mainly stock except for ur pulley injen cai and exhaust. any input?

i had the choice when i picked my car up and i basically picked up the tl because it has more of a sport feel. if you go to the is forums there all modifying their cars to be vip and luxury. i wanted more sport than luxury and i saw people talking about that a lot more here.

i realize the is300 has a lot more mod capabilities and you can swap in a nice supra engine easily but i personally like the acura more. maybe its just me though. plus the 2nd gen tl has a way nicer interior : )

I love my TL but I would take the trade, because of potential tranny issues.

I would take the trade for sure. IS300 is still a nice car inside and out, and Lexus is a reliable brand... right up there with Acura. Plus, like others have said, mod potential is much much higher than the TL. RWD > FWD when it comes to performance, as long as you'll be careful in the winter (assuming you get snow).

lol i know the n/a supra motor has alot of potential but as of right now it looks like im keeping the TL that stupid ass dealer only wanted to give me 5k because i have 103k on it i flipped them the bird walked out and smoked out the tires on the way out lol i hate dealers btw the IS300 is a fun car with the rwd n 5speed but it is slow as fuck lol is300 FTL lol

i know man i was pullin away from the dealer like damn i almost gave up the abp for a rwd civic w/ leather interior? lmao wtf is wrong with me but damn that rwd is fun but all i have to think about is not losing to everyone i race and the tl is still my baby =)

The IS300 is a nice car, but I like the interior on the TLS way better. To me, the IS300 looks sort of like the 00-01 TL's.

If you really want a IS wait about two years and get a 06 IS350. 306 hp + small car + RWD = A beast of a car. Even with the automatic, 0-60 in 5.2 seconds.

And I know you meant to say Corolla with Leather. Because Civics are a part of the Honda/Acura, so we can't hate... lol

yea if i had the funds id be on my way to lexus to pick up that is-f beautiful car n yea the civic is in our family but have you ever driven one??? lol i owned one and i would have to say that will be the last. the gas mileage wasnt bad tho but for 126hp at the crank you get what you pay for i guess lol

IS300 smaller inside, and isnt as good of a handling car as the TL. I walked all over one 2 weekends ago racing. TL gets my vote to keep

If the transmission is all your worried about swap it out for a 6 speed when it goes out. Im driving my car into the dirt. Ill replace the engine if i have to, i love this car!! I love how it looks over the 3rd gen. Everyone has their own preference. Just make a decision that is based on you and not what others say. I did that when i piked up my bmw and LOVE it. Same with tl heard of the transmission issue took a risk and dont regret it one bit. Plus at the end if something happens you can blame yourself besides point fingers

You showed them... you're a real man now... leaving money on the road doesn't prove anything to anyone. A better response would have been to get the price you wanted on the trade in. Everything is negotiable, especially in this market.

I'd consider it, the TLS is faster, better on gas and larger. So it'd have to be ALOT more fun then the tl to be worth it.

thanks i appreciate it and im not going to "negotiate" to a dealer that is trying to say that the car is worth 15k and my tl-s is only worth 5k my buddy went up there a couple hours later to try and snap a wrx they had. his 05 maxima is flawless with 33k on it and they offered him 8500 for it hahahah

FYI resale on the 05 is between 13-18K, so to get an offer of $8500 is about right. It's trade in, not retail or private seller price. Further more the 05 maxima is a hard car to sell.

Trade ins are for chumps... so sell it yourself. Buy in cash. Thats how the deals are done. In business, cash is king.

So when are you getting the IS300? Friend on mine is picking up one, says it's alot more fun then the TSX.

It's got great service stats, but its bad on gas for a 3.0.

theres plenty for sale but with the tl almost paid off i really dont want to take up another payment plus it seems the 5mt are hard to find not already modded
