02 TL CD Changer

My CD player has an error message and the CD's are jammed. My wife took it to an aftermarket (Ultimate Audio) guy and he says that something is misaligned and that it could not be fixed.

I called the dealer and they won't even try and fix it. They just replace it ($830 plus labor). (Please note that the car's warranty ran out)

So my questions are:

1. Does anyone out there have one they want to get rid of?

2. Does a changer from a 2001 CL (or any other 01-03 CL/TL model) work for the 2002 TL?

3. Has anyone ever had this problem and can it be fixed?

4. Are ther any recommendations for an aftermarket player for the 02 TL?

Thanks

CD Changers have all sorts of issues. Forget the dealer. Look on ebay for one or in a junkyard and just replace it yourself. I would get the part number and search that way so you know it will fit. I think you can use the one from the CL.

I am planning on putting a Alpine into my 2002 TL. When I do I'll sell you mine. Shoot me over your contact so that we can discuss this further.

YOU CANNOT USE THE DECK FROM A CL. We have a totally different speaker and eq setup than the CL.

There is one on ebay right now or if you still need in a few weeks, I will have one to sell, only about a year old.

Yep.... No CL HU's will work on our system. Dont get an 99-01 model, cause that just defeats the purpose of having a 6cd indash, plus you run the risk of not playing burned CD's. I bought my 6CD HU from the dealer for 900 minus 350 bucks insurance was going to pay me. I cant imagine living without it now!

Any suggestions on how to fix this, I have the same problem (cartridge won't eject, and HU displays E-01). What really sucks is that I don't use it, but I just got a SoundGate auxiliary input adapter and that won't work without the changer working. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The last post in this thread was 03/09/05 - exactly one year ago today, and exactly the day I bought my 02 TL used.

There's no real fix for this. Mine was jammed when I purchased in a year ago (exactly) and the dealer replaced it under warranty. for using the search feature.

Thanks for the ""thums-up" I did search all over, (I can't stand seeing the same question asked in separae threads) and based on this thread I was hoping I could get some tips from samkws since they mentioned possibly being able to fix it. I'd rather do it myself, instead of shipping it out and paying $200 to have it fixed, especially since I don't even use it, I just want my auxillery inputs to work.

Since my TL is long out of warranty, and I'm tired of going to my dealer after 5 tranny replacements, I'd love to fix this, instead of dumping more money into it...

Just had my third new HU installed (all warranty) The first jammed at 48K miles, the last one at 77K mi. If it is still under warranty go that way, otherwise find a junkyard unit.
