0-60

Now its really weird that everywhere i look, i find different 1/4miles and 0-60 times. Some places quoted (like edmunds) the TL-P to go to 60 in under 8seconds... then i look at www.car-stats.com and theyre quoting 6.7 for the TL-P and 6.3 for the TL-S... not sure if its true but hey, lets me feel somewaht better that at least im not that much slower than the Type S

wud have loved to get the 6speed manual CL (told by dealer its around 5.8) but alas... im personally not fond of the coupe (pain in the ass if pple wanna sit in the back)

I've seen times ranging from 7.2 to the high 7. It was either Car & Driver or Road & Track that came in with 7.2 for the '99 TL. I agree - this car feels like it's < 8 seconds. While there are all kinds of factors affecting acceleration on any given day, there is no way a stock TL-P is breaking 7 seconds. This is supported by the weight to horse power ratio. I realize other variables are important, but Wt / H.P. gives a rough estimate. At the end of the day, there's only one way to find out, take it to the track or pull out a stop watch.

AMEN... too many variables involved to be quoting magazines. Take it to the track or by a G-tech

gtech would be more acurate than a stop watch. How about if there is something wrong with your speedo or your tires and rims are different.

well like the guys that test these cars say... dont do this at home boys and girls... they kill the cars when theyre testing them so i doubt i wanna go and do it myself.. as for stopwatching it, i wudnt trust myself or anyone else to do it perfectly.

My neighbor was tryin to tell me that he counted a 0-60 time of 6.5seconds for his 1997 MBenz 230... i told him he was full of **** but he said his brother did it (another funny thing was that he was using D1, D2, D3, and D4 to shift-- no sportshift)

4 spd TL was timed 7.2 when it was out in 99....back then they said using SS gave a slower time for 0-60

when the 5 spd came out in late 2000 they all said it was HALF a sec faster than the 4spd...which broke into 6 sec range....

id agree with samkws... the 4speed was rated at a slower 0-60 than the 5speed. C&D claims it was around 6.7 (lands right where samkws says.. 1/2 second faster than the 7.2seconds)...

with that said, 6.8sec on the TL-P and 6.3secoonds on the TL-S doesnt make me feel taht bad... only thing id want stock is the Vrated 215/55/17's and the stiffer suspension. Im more jealous of the handling the TL-S is capable of than the speed

well...in terms of handling TL-P has a better steering feel than the TL-S coz of the speed sensitive power steering on TL-P vs the torque sensitive steer on TL-S....however TL-S has a quicker ratio...

actually TL-P is capable of going fast in corners coz of the chassis....TL's chassis is very tight and safe for going high speed on corners

Z-rated is definately the way to go. Just got some BF Goodrich
KDWS's with a W-rating(sub-group of z rated to 168 mph's) and they handle like Iverson.
