Will it fit a 2006 RL?

Hi, I'm looking at purchasing new rims for my 2006 RL and came across this on ebay

Acura TL 18 Inch 10 Spoke Chrome Wheels Set of 4

http://www.ebay.com/itm/290929736856?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619

Does anyone know the offset and if they fit a 2006 RL.

Thanks

No. They won't clear the front brakes. BTW, I tried to PM you back but your PM box is full.

If you really want them, you'll need to use spacers.

The spacers probably only need to be 5-6mm as that is what the ZDX wheels need, but you can't be completely sure without a test fit. If you buy quality spacers, there is little to no impact. Be sure they are hub-centric.

I talked with a Costco and also a local chain tire shop and they both said they would put tires on the rims but would not mount the rims if I had billet spacers. They said I needed the kind of hub centric spacers (that are bolted to the hub) that have their own bolts attached to them that hold the rim. Apparently, the billet spacers are unsecured, so they shift and make noise and supposedly make threading the lug unsafe.

The problem I run into is that a 6 mm spacer does not appear thick enough to hold its own bolt because I find spacers with their own bolt but they are never as thin as 6 mm. I only see 6 mm billet spacers.

So how do people mount these rims? Is there a special shop I have to go to or must I get my own compressor and air tools? Where are the fabled 6 mm spacers with its own bolts attached?

There are no 6mm bolt on spacers. For a spacer to bolt onto your hub it will need to be as thick as the studs are long. You are going to find that, without shaving down the studs, (I cannot stress enough how bad of an idea that would be), a bolt on spacer compatible to your car would need to be about 20-30mm thick as the studs on the RL are about an inch long. Doing this will basically give a +35mm offset wheel a +5mm offset.

There is a reason why Costco and other major tire chains will not touch a vehicle that has spacers on it. You are putting an object in between the vehicle hub and the mounting surface of the wheel. Yes, many people have run this setup on their cars without any major issues. But, at the same time, studies have obviously shown that having spacers on your car significantly increases the chances of your wheel coming loose. Why would you even take the risk? Just to run a BMW wheel on your Acura? That's just silly to me. If you have a wheel come loose on the road you are not just endangering yourself. You are endangering everybody around you as well. What if that wheel comes loose at 60mph, rolls into oncoming traffic and smashes through the windshield of some innocent family's minivan with the force of 120mph? Was it worth it?

I know it sounds like I'm being harsh. I just can't stand when people are so willing to risk their lives and, more importantly to me, the lives of other people on the road just for a certain style. When all the tire shops around say they won't go anywhere near a vehicle with floating spacers there is a reason for it. There are plenty of wheels out there that will properly and safely fit your vehicle.
