TPMS Accuracy
TPMS Accuracy
According to my TPMS, my tires (PAX) were all off by a few PSI so I figured I'd bring them up to spec (30 PSI Rear, 32 PSI Front). Using my trusty Craftsman compressor and handy Accutire digital guage, I inflated them to exatly where they should be. I then started the car and watched as the TPMS indicator settled in (took about 5 seconds). They ended up with 31 Rear and 33 Front, exactly 1 PSI higher than the Accutire. Not bad at all.

I'm starting to wish the TPMS only warned you when it went outside a certain range (like my other car). I find that with it displaying the exact pressures I'm in the garage every weekend with the pump! Must be an OCD thing
Poll: How many guys have spend way more time then necessary trying to get all four tires to register the same value? I want honesty here
I run a staggered pressure setup, about 35 up front and 33 is in the rear. The system is very accurate vs my mechanical gauge +/- 1 psi. The rise in pressure when hot is totally normal as the air expands.

I too find it acurrate, and use a digitial to check when I wash the car. Glad I was not 1st to admit it!
I run 35 front and 34 rear. Hmmmm, maybe I should drop a bit for some cush? On the other hand, I have been geeting really good mileage at this pressure. It's odd that I get better mpg in summer with AC on MAX 24/7. Must be the summer grade fuel and the extra psi?

I too am running according to what is suggested. I find that the ride quality suffers when I don't have the right psi on all tires. And besides, when driving under a hot weather, the psi goes up. Anyway, the pressure monitor is a bit off compared to what i get if i measure the pressure manually. As long as i'm within what is suggested i'm okay.
not sure higher PSI equals better fuel economy... up to a certain limit, yes, but beyond that you lose traction at the sides in theory... you'll know this when the center of the tire wears out before the sides
anybody figure out what the best PSI is for fuel economy?
