RonJon wheels

A month or so ago I started a long thread about the new RonJon wheels I bought and the vibration these first gens caused due to initial production issues. I complained about Ron's unwillingness to answer my calls or emails seeking the partial refund he promised. I am convinced the only reason I did finally get the money was due to the posts on this forum. Since however, I feel the need to give his product some props.
The vibration is still there and I doubt it will ever be resolved so I've learned to live with it. The wheels however are gorgeous. I have debadged the car and have gotten more than a few query's asking what brand it is because it looks so good and I believe those comments are mostly because of the wheels. Before I thought it was a handsome car, and offered real value compared to others in its class. But these wheels elevate it to the next level they look that good. The car is black metallic which sets off the wheels beautifully and I am amazed at how clean they stay, especially when compared to my other car.
So, while my experiences with Ron were not pleasant, and aside from the tolerance problem he had with the first few sets, I think he has made a beautiful, quality product that decidedly makes the RL a much more attractive car.

Do you know whether one of the wheels or the tires is out of round? You could have that checked at a tire shop. If it's the wheel, I'm pretty sure Ron would deal with the situation appropriately. If it's the tire, then you need to talk to the tire shop you purchased the tire from.

In any case, post some pix of your setup in the Photo Gallery so we can see the job you did debadging and putting those nice wheels on!

Pics please, and for the record, the corrected offset wheels are going to be here on the 25th of Sept.

BTW, We have those hubcentric spacers made specifically for this problem if you want to get rid of that vibration and you've tried everything else. Notice the centerflange, this may have been the only 3 mm hubcentric spacer ever made. I engineered them myself with a machineist after searching for one week straight for hubcentric spacers everywear. They will even work on the OEm wheels too.

The original sets were not able to clear the caliper on the RL, so we had the offset readjusted by 3 mm. it clears now, and they are scheduled to be here before the end of Sept. So the spacers are only for the previous sets which happen to fit the MDX, Oddessey, and Ridgline with no problem. So it wasn't a total loss.

BTW, pics in the gallery section:

19's and Ride Quality on RL

I looked at Fibbidiboo's photos. Car looks great with the 19's. It was nice to see it on a NBP Rl, because that's just what I own as well. Just wondering about the ride with the 19's. Is it a big difference from stock or fairly minor. I like the looks of the larger wheel, but I also like the nice smooth ride I have now with the 17's. Figured 18's wouldn't be a drastic change, and may improve handling, but I am a little wary of the 19's.

I don't have a definitive answer to the ride question because a) I had so few miles on the car with the 18's before making the purchase and, b) the vibration still felt after what I think was an excellent installation and balance process is still evident. That said I do not think the ride suffers in any way although after having owned Mercedes, Lexus, and Infiniti products I don't think the ride quality meets those standards. Overall, no complaints.

Your car looks Great! Those rims are awesome with your paint.

As a side note, it looks like your wipers are in the winter position. Unless you are expecting a freeze soon, you can move them down to the summer postion.

Stand on the passenger side, grasp both wiper arms, and pull them down gently and a little firmly toward you along the plane of the windshield. You will feel a little resistance then they will go into place in the lower position. The wipers have two positions, the down position is the normal one, the higher winter position is for when there is snow or ice built up on the lower part of the windshield.
