ROCK SOLID in the rain!!

here in so cal it's been raining like crazy for a week... everything is soaked...the rain has been unusual in that it's also nonstop... it rained and rained and just didn't stop... usually we would get rain but it woudl start/stop with periods of sun/dry... not this time. constant wetness..

i have had the RL out for shopping trips and with the family in the car too... i have been utterly amazed at how well the car drives in the WET. it almost feels the same as the dry.. granted I"m not pushing it... but the car has NOT slipped at all.... and at times I swear it SHOULD have! but it just grips and goes...

i find myself saying "how the F*** does it do that" as I take turns... amazing.

the other night some guy in a lifted / tricked out looking pickup truck was behind me as I was negotiating a freeway offramp.. NO ONE was racing but I took teh turn at my usual "spririted" pace... and of course it was wet as heck..and I guess he decided to go at MY pace... I guess he figured if I could go that fast so coudl he... I glanced in my rearview mirror and saw his back end sliding out / going sideways!!

he appeared to correct it and slowed down... at the next light he was up alongside me... so he was fine.. no one crashed.... and he drove away fromt eh light VERY slowly... guess he got a good scare... it was somefixed up off roader type truck with racing stickers all over it... so maybe he is a "drive fast" kind of guy... but he clearly didn'te have SH-AWD...

I have been nothign short of amazed at how the RL handles wetness / corners. while I'm not pushing the car or trying to play "track day" in the rain.. I have enjoyed driving throgh turns at what I would say are "slightly" faster than I should.. and the ca rjust boogies through it as if it is completely unaware that it weights 4000 lbs and the roads are wet...

don't tell my car it's a 4000 lb sedan in the wet.. it doesn't know!

I hope it is as good in the snow as it is in the rain. I am taking my RL to the snow for the first time in January (ski trips). With a brand new set of snow tires, i better not be disappointed. Last few winters i went to the mountains with a FWD car and it was "OK" drive in the snow between snow tires and a bit of chains use.
Can't wait to try the SH-AWD in the snow!

no factory michelins... mine wore out around 45k and I JUST Put on a set of Michelin Pilot sport A/S+.. I am, however, on the puny 17" stock wheels...

I also did the 09+ rear sway bar upgrade. I recommend this for sure... not much money and made a noticeable improvement in cornering..

all I can say is SH-AWD is WOW! i'd like to get a new TL SH-AWD as a loaner...shod with 19" PS2s... on a dry day... yeah baby!

I remember my first time on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S...I just stopped slowing down for 90' turns...that bout summons it up.

They are ok in snow, nothing special, but in rain...you can't stop them.

Add aspec and it is unstoppable. It doesn't even feel like the car is trying. I was taking "spirited" turns in the wet last night and my sleeping wife and daughter didn't even stir. I LOVE this car!
