Ive made the decision for wheels to stick with the a spec...I am more confused now than when I started. I read on this site all the required specs and I am trying to stay true to that (5x120, 55 offset, 64.1 bore etc).

My concern is there are vendors that say they have the wheels with a 5x120 bolt pattern and 45mm offset for the car, 2007 RL Tech 1. Am I correct to assume I need the offset to be 55? I have reviewed a bunch of threads here and the vendors I am speaking to state the wheels are 5x120 RL aspec but when they shoot a pic of the back of the wheel it states

SEP880a (isnt this the TL wheel?)

They keep mentioning a hollander # 71747 but that doesnt match tech specs. Is there an RL aspec thats a 5x120 that fits with those specs? I only need 1 wheel I have 3 coming and they state SJA880a and 55 on the hub. Will the wheels mentioned above still work or will car ride poorly and set off lights? I mean how can I trust the bolt pattern to be right if all else seems wrong?

The easiest solution that comes to my mind is to email them and ask them to take a picture of the wheel in question. A TL-S wheel looks different from an RL-Aspec wheel.

As far as specs, I haven't done a lot of research into the Aspec wheels, but if they're wider than the stock 17s then it's not unreasonable to assume the offset will be different. Remember, width and offset play off each other to achieve the desired positioning of the wheel in the wheelwell.

 

Thanks for the response. They have taken pics of the rear so your saying the TL A spec and the RL a spec look different? Ive never seen them side by side where is the difference noticeable?

 

So Im even more confused...can someone just simply confirm if an A spec +45 offset will fit the RL with a 5x120 bolt pattern? What would be the issue with running 3 at +55 offset and 1 with 45? Would I just need a spacer?

 

I got the Aspec and Type-S confused, sorry. Not sure if the TL aspec wheels are different in appearance.

Can't you just tell them the correct part number? Are these OE Acura wheels, or aftermarket reproductions? If they're original wheels the part number shoyld be enough of a rererence.

Technically you could even out the offset with a 5mm spacer, but you might run into some other issues like adequate thread engagement.

 

I'm willing to bet one of your purchases won't fit if the technical specs are truly different. There was only one RL Aspec wheel model with two different chrome finishes. The TL ASpec wheels are the same design, but painted and a different bolt pattern.

If they are both RL wheels, they will be the same physical dimensions, but a part nimber difference would indicate a chrome finish difference.

 

So here is the issue the folks behind the screen are just reading a script and whats on their screen. It says the wheel which will fit an RL and has a 5x120 bolt pattern and 45 offset and I use that same Hollander and it shows a completely different wheel than what I got but the spec on the back points it to an RL wheel SJA880a vs my TL which also has a spec but states SEP 880b. Im waiting for the rest of rims to come in to verify all 3. Some of these wheel places have been super helpful as they are just as confused as me with the numbering...others not so much. Im still only looking for 1 rim who knew it would be such a PITA.

Did you know once a rim is chromed you cannot refinish it to anything but chrome IF you can find someone who will even do that?

 

I have no clue what a Hollander is or how to comprehend your first paragraph without punctuation.

Powdercoat shops can refinish any wheel. Not sure if they will sandblast the chrome off or just paint over it, but there have been plenty of chrome wheels powder coated.

 

Pretty sure the Aspec wheels are +55 offset.

As far as the chrome on those goes, it can be sandblasted off since it's PVD chrome and not the old school chrome like they used to do. Long story short, some of the older chrome wheels that were known for rusting and pitting in the wintertime are not processed by most sandblasters anymore, as it was explained to me.

Long story short, yes, they are sand blasted before powdercoating, and they can re-chrome a wheel using PVD'ed chrome I'm pretty sure they would have to re-do the whole wheel at a time.

You never answered if these are OE Acura or reps. If they're OE then they should all have different part numbers. The 2 RL styles will have similar numbers, differing only in finish code, while the TL wheel will have a very different number.
