Legend Silvers now in Chrome

So if I ever get the problems ironed out on my car, I want to put on some Legends. I see RonJon now offers a Chrome option for them. I think they look amazing but just want to make sure they wouldn't look pimp sitting on the car of a 41 year old?

He doesnt have any photos yet showing them mounted on the car.

I love the look of chrome wheels. Plus it's easier to keep clean.

However, you DO have to be careful and not get something that overpowers the car, otherwise you do end up looking, well, you know.

Well come on then Mike help me out here! You're walking on both sides of the fence on this one... <just kidding> If I put those rims on my car, will it be Pimp or Nice?

They are a lot of money so I dont want to have post purchase cognitive dissonance.

haha. Sorry, didn't mean to be non-committal. I honestly AM on the fence with it. It comes down to your personal choice.

But, if you are forcing me to make a decision then I vote NO. I think the 14 spokes is a bit too much and will look overbearing on the refined looking RL. of course that's coming from a 46 year old guy.

Having said that, I LOVE the look of chrome wheels. I would have changed these painted wheels out immediately if it wasn't for the fact that I have PAX tires. Do the chrome but find something a little more sophisticated for the RL.

You might consider a Chrysler 300.

Just kidding. I love the look of the Legends, yet agree that is one heck of a lot of chrome for such a refined vehicle. If not for PAX I'd be sporting some Legend wheels already. Just not in chrome.

Chrome 18" = Not Pimp
Chrome 19" = Pimp

I'm waiting to see the stock wheel on the 2.5G RL. I think the RL needs a machined-look wheel rather than painted. Chrome is the next best choice.

You might be able to get take-off wheels from a brand new 2.5G RL when the dealership puts the usual pimped-out RL in the showroom.

To the OP...what coloer is your RL?

I agree with Rob....Machined is the way to go...the BBS RE is a good choice.

I love my Ron Jon Legend Silver more than the OEM wheels.

Bam! There you go 2007AcuraRL. Now you can make an informed decision.

I personally think they look a bit "busy" on the RL. But they CERTAINLY look better then my stock wheels so you can't say it looks bad. It would be a great improvement from what's on there now.

they do look a little busy. If you went with the RJ's, go with a rim that is slightly larger than the one in the picture, it looks kinda weird to me with the amount of tire on the car.

Rl is a very soft car you need something bigger than that to bring it out just throw some 22” on that b*tch

If you go with with bigger rims, they will look worst (gap) becauce there is not enough rubber on the rims.
I was thinking install the A-Spec syspensions to lower the cat and it will look perfect.

Note: 19" will look good but the car needs to be lowered to compensat the big gap.(The ride will be rough and harsh)

I think it needs 22" spinners. That would look pretty good

Here is the close up pic.
The car does need to be lowered approx. 1" to make it looks good. Any lower will make the car looks likes the shocks are gone.

I never realized how old you guys are, I feel young ! haha j/k
As for the rims, I like the way they look on AsianTL's ride, but the chrome might be a little much, depending on what color your RL is, guess its all a matter of opinion, but the only opinion that really matters is yours.

I've seen that the 19" looks worse than 18" unless you give the car a drop due ot the lower profile tire on the 19. Interestingly RonJon recommends a fitment of 245/45/19, but I thought you end up with 40 series and not 45 series when you go to the 19s? I dont want to go lower profile than 45s because there are always potholes here in the northeast. But a 19" with 45s would be perfect.

(At some point I'll probably get the A-Spec suspension but it would probably have to wait for a while if I go with the RonJons since wheels are tires are not an inexpensive excerise.)

You can pick up the Aspec Suspension on Ebay for about $600 from Curry Acura. That is a pretty good deal, IMO.

Thank you so much for that. Someone put 22's on a 2G RL and it looked....well, definitely NOT .

245/45/19 would be way off. Stick to 245/40/19.

Yeah, thanks thats the fitment I was aware of. I will go for the 18's since I want to stay at a 45 series.

Did you look at the 18" Acura polished OEM wheels?
I went that way / very pleased You can also use your current lugs & locks
These just looked a little more conservative but much nicer than stock

I am not a fan of the A-Spec wheels so yes I'm aware they exist, I just dont think they look like anything special. The RonJon's stand out - they make a bold statement, but in my opinion, not in a bad way. Interesting that most of you guys are against the chrome option, yet the A-Specs are chrome. There is a guy at my office with an A8 and it also has chrome stock rims. I wonder if everyone here is just too damn old!

19"+ deep dish rims are pimp, the rims your considering look more "sporty", IMHO.

well I did a quick photoshop job of the chrome rims on my white RL and I dont think I am digging it after all. The regular legends are still a possibility.

Is there a list floating around of the few 18" rim options that will with the RL? I dont think I want to go to 19's and 40 series profile because the short sidewall is asking for trouble where I live in the pothole riddled northeast.

Could you help me understand why this would be off? I'm looking into getting the 19 Ronjon Legends and am fearful of potholes also. I like the room the 245's offer. Is that not feasible with this wheel, will it look bad, what would be off?

Because 245/40-19 maintains the stock rolling diameter, the same as 245/45-18 or 245/50-17, all recommended sizes for the RL. 245/45-19 is larger 3.76% larger diameter than stock, and will give you speedo and odo errors for sure, and potential brake issues.

Not sure how it affects the AWD computers, however. Does anyone know if the calculations assume a certain diameter tire?

Also affects the shift points in the transmission. Too big and the car will prematurely shift before peak power is reached, too small and the car will over rev past redline. Besides, tire size will make the wheel look it's size. A 40 series on a 19" will look good, a 45 series on a 19" will raise the car off the ground and make the 19" wheel look like an 18" wheel. might as well go 18" if you want to keep the 45 series tire.

I think someone on this board may have plus sized and used 255's instead of 245's, which would give you some tiny bit more sidewall on the 40 series. I noticed this is a revival of an old thread. I ended up going with the 19's Legends in machine polish on my car. I love them. I live in the NE so I put my stock wheels back on from Dec to April as there arent many all season tire options in 19" size, plus it keeps my RonJon's from winter road salt.
Incidently, I've met Rondy (Mr. RonJon) in person and he's quite a nice fellow to deal with. Definitely buy his rims if you can!

Yes, at the time of introduction and a year or two after, 255/40-19 tires on because at the time, 245/40-19 tires in summer were relatively plentiful, but not in all seasons, and thus 255/40 was the recommended size, about 1.5% larger diameter than recommended, but within the generally accepted +/- 2% tolerance...now of course, there are many more choices in 245/40-19 so you don't have to do use alternate sizes.
