Issues with TPMS during new tire install

I just bought Goodyear Eagle F1 AS tires and went to a local NTB to have them installed. They do a reasonably good job and I've used them before.

The installers told me that they had significant difficulty in trying to remove the TPMS monitors' screws and so couldn't remove the tires. The screws only spun in their sockets so they couldn't be removed. The monitor was therefore not removable with breaking it. Instead of proceeding further, they advised me to take the car to the dealer to have the new tires mounted.

Has anyone else had this issue?

It really stinks that with all the new tech in cars, you can't take your car to just any tire shop, but have to take it to the dealer for something simple like tire mounting. It makes me wonder whether things were planned that way. Luckily, I like my dealer and they have a Hunter Roadforce balancer, so it's not a huge deal other than that I have to wait a few days longer.

You even have to ask? Of course they are.

Sorry to hear about your issue. I'm either getting new tires or a new car soon, so I might be going through this as well.

strange - I had my tires installed at a standard tire shop
even had a flat fixed at local gas station.
Neither had problems - actually why do they have to remove the monitor screws?
I watched the gas station fix the flat and did not see him remove anything, although I was not watching the entire time.

Maybe they didn't know what they were doing? In that case, better for them to admit they couldn't do the job, and better for me to go to the dealer.

I just swapped out my tires. I was careful where I put the tire tool and where I started the tire over the wheel and everything went well by leaving the sensor in place.

I do NOT know if it's standard proceedure to leave them in place of if they remove them just to be safe.....
