17" wheel recommendations

I have a stock wheel that is warped/bent and needs to be replaced. Before I pay $200-$300 for a replacement OEM wheel I thought I'd entertain a whole new set of aftermarket units.

I have quite a bit of tread on my Michelin tires so I thought I'd stay with 17" wheels (plus I want to maintain the current suspension "ride").

Here's what I'm looking at:
http://www.erzperformance.com/Produc...=DR37175-120HS

It's so difficult to imagine what the wheels will actually look like on the car (even with the Discount Tire simulator, etc.). I also wonder about the width of 7.5in vs OEM 8.0". I want a SUBTLE upgrade to the look, nothing too flashy. My 2005 is white with tan interior.

Anyone care to share their opinion on the style, finish (should I go chrome) and/or width?

I will tell you right now that I have a lot of experience with Drag wheels and they are junk. They will be nowhere near the quality of the OEM Acura wheels. I have sent so many Drag wheels back to the factory due to manufacturing defects. I also never recommend going down in width on wheels.

Check out TSW Nurburgrings. Same design almost, great price, and super light. Really, I just want to see what they look like on an RL.

Not even close to the same design. I've seen both in person and there's no comparison. The Drag wheel looks so cheap in person. Very obviously cheaply made. The TSW has impeccable fit and finish. Yes, they're more expensive but they are well worth the money. TSW's rotary forging creates a lighter and stronger wheel compared to Drag's generic gravity cast mold too. Only thing I would say about the TSW is I question the durability of the finish if used through the winter in a cold weather state. I can definitely picture the matte finish staining easily when it comes to the elements.

LOL, the TSW Nurburgrings was one of the ones I also selected but I can't locate them in 17". What about the TSW Snetterton?

Thanks for the info on DRAG wheels. I was planning on making a trip to Discount Tire today and making the purchase (they are having a big Labor Day sale - $100 off of the set). I guess I'll wait and find something else.

Just for the record, TL wheels won't fit my RL...right? I'm finding many OEM style options (even chrome) for very attractive prices but it's always for the TL.

Something tells me I'll just end up purchasing a refurbished stock wheel for $200 and be done with it. That would leave me enough money to purchase the Aspec suspension...

7.5 inch will work with 245/50-17

You have the other opinions on low quality wheels.

Your cheapest bet will be to repair/replace your OEM wheel.

Check out some of these...of course they will be more costly.

http://www.enkei.com/racing.html

I never went very far in research on these, but some look like they could fit. If you are, call or write Enkei to see if they do and let us know the outcome.

Enkei does make OEM wheels for Acura. They even use some of their advanced technology on some wheels such as the 20 inch monsters for the ZDX.

The new TL wheels, 5x120, do not clear the front calipers. BlazingGT had 3Gen redrilled and they fit, but I suspect he used spacers.

Wait, are you sure these designs aren't close? I wasn't talking about fabrication design. I was talking about aesthetic design. The TSWs are twice as much though.

They are both mesh style designs but the similarities end there.

OP, go to Discount and order the TSW's. As long as you pay for it in full this weekend you still get the $100 rebate. They can put them on backorder with TSW and install them when they come in. TSW's backorder process doesn't take long, usually a few weeks.

Well, I backed out of getting new wheels. I found a local place that refinishes OEM wheels and has the exact one I need. It's $200 and guaranteed to be "like new". They also said if my bad wheel is "fixable" they will buy it from me for $65.

So I couldn't resist - worst case $200 (plus mounting/balancing), best case $135 (plus mounting/balancing).

I pick it up tomorrow.

Well there is no point in arguing about it so let's agree to disagree.

OP, congrats on a good deal. However, had you known this would happen a week ago, you could have bought all four of eyi's for $110+ shipping.

eyi, I know you're happy they are gone, but here is evidence you could have sold them to a shop for $260. At least someone got a great deal I guess.
