2006 RL Non-Tech (NHP)

Just got my 2006 RL on Nov. 3rd. I absolutely love this car! Still reading and learning the manual. Lots to memorize. By far, the best car I have ever own. I have gotten so many compliments on the car.

Still debating on the tint.... trying to keep the look "classic". Believe it or not... with the ebony interior and with the read door shades and back window shade... the car is pretty dark. I also think the windows have some kind of reflective tint to them as well.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how well the tinting will enhance the "Classic" look. It will also help to provide some cool to the Ebony interior during those hot days.

I'm assuming your RL is tinted? How much should I expect to pay for a window tint?

^ It all depends on your region. For example, when I bought my 2005 RL (which I subsequently cancelled the deal), I had them tint for only $150. In Chicago, the price ranges from $200-250 for a four door sedan.

I'm from the DC/MD/VA area...... so not sure how much to expect. Think the last time I tinted my 2000 Nissan Maxima, I got the Formula1 tint for $125. I'm sure prices have gone up in 7 years. $150 is reasonable.... but $200-$250 seems high. I wonder if tint places charge higher... just b/c of the type of car.... Honda Accord versus a RL?

I agree. It will also depend on what type of tint you choose. I went with the Ceramic based tint rather than the metallic based tint so as not to interfere with the NAVI signal. Ceramic tint is a bit $$$$.

Treblig,

Notice you got the wood steering wheel. How do you like it? I really wish they would have made it standard in the RL. Lexus puts it in all of their cars. It's hard now to shell out the $$. What's your take and how much did you have to drop?

thanks

vluu,

I really like the look and the feel of the wood steering wheel. Along with the wood shift knob, I think it adds a lot to ambiance of the interior - particularly the Ebony interior. I don't recall the exact $$$, I would have to look a my purchase agreement, but I did get them both at dealer cost which was negotiated a the time of the deal
.

True You just have to remember to turn the wheel or cover it up on those extremely sunny days.

I'm pretty handy... but was worried about removing the airbag, that worries me. Other than that.... I don't think it would be too bad. Did you have to disconnect the battery? About how long did it take you from start to finish? I have already installed the wood shift knob, and it already improves the interior. I know the wood steering would really make it look 100 times better.
