XM Real Time Traffic

1. Hello Guys i was in NYC today and my XM nav traffic did not re-route me out of traffic. Does it have this feature, I thought this automatically re-route you around heavy traffic and accidents.

2. I also notice that even when i put the navigation to Minimize the Toll it still putS me directly on the Toll Bridges. It's not effective in that way.

You do have to enable to auto re-routing based on traffic (and the traffic needs to be detected). As far as the minimize tolls, I'm guessing it's got various algorithms for the different routing methods, but it will still try to avoid anything needlessly out of the way (this minimize not eliminate). Sadly there is no slider or other way to express how hard it should try to minimize things.

You can add the bridges to the avoid area, which is a nice feature btw (I'm guessing designed to avoid ghettos or areas when restraining orders are in place).

XM traffic works for me sometimes, I mean, it tells me about traffic all the time but re-routes not so much.

As far as minimize tolls, I think you need to have that option selected from the very start of the trip, and also, there's no way to get inside NYC without paying a bridge, a tunnel or some kind of a toll.

I don't believe the 2006 has the auto re-route feature, that is a '09+ feature only. '05-'08 gets traffic reports only.
