XM did it again...

Last month they auto billed me $42.06 as a quarterly charge for an account that was paid annually back in Sept. 09. Told I would get credited on my Feb CC bill. Well, got my bill last night and low and behold NO credit of $42.06 BUT there was an additional charge of $88. There morons are short of being crooks. Watch your CC bill. When I called my CC company they told man many customers have been experiencing this from XM. I have instructed my CC company to not allow auto bill from XM. If it happens again they will issue me a neww CC acount. XM has now lost 4 accounts with me becuase of their bungling of this matter.

Yep, my accounts have been discontinued. I was on the phone with XM for over 90 minutes trying to get this straightened out - shouldn't CS Depts. have people who can speak 'good' engrish? I will now rely upon good 'ole local FM and iPods to keep me entertained.

You are banking on them being around for 3 yrs. IF they have your CC on file, and they need cash flow, don't be surprised to see an unsolicited charge on your card. There CS is not very helpful and can try your patience; they try to wear you down by repeating themselves over and over again. The BBB now has a large file on hand of many consumer complaints such as mine. XM was just fine before the merger - the house of cards is now tumbling. I don't expect to see any 'refund' but at least they won't be charging me monthly.

Today in the mail I got a reminder postcard from XM that my credit card is expiring soon and I need to update my card information with them as soon as possible. Yeah right - they aren't getting anything else from me. I'm glad my card number changed completely.

A coworker just had the same thing happen. He was told they were giving him 4 months free when I called in January or so, but his card showed a $40something charge. He canceled them on the spot.

I'm watching my cards like a hawk.

Happened again - now cancelling the CC to protect any futher charges. They used to have a happy customer with me (when my first year was free when I bought my RL).

I am hating XM as well. They are making it very difficult to cancel for the RL, especially since they just charged it the day before. Grrrrrr......

The worst part is being handled by Cancellations. Outsourcing to India FTL :thumbsdow !

Wow that sucks, sorry to hear all the problems you're having. I am glad you posted these problems. Hopefully when I get an RL or any XM enabled car, I will make sure I avoid them. AUX and Ipod will be just as good.

Thumbs down Don't let them keep your CC info

I just dealt with XM to add the XM traffic feature and when it came time to pay they automatically put the CC info you give them onto your account so that future billings are automatically deducted. I had to specifically tell them (3 times) that they DON'T get to keep that CC info on my account and that it is for one payment (the current amount) only. They are VERY aggressive about doing this.

Well, now, wait. Their DEFAULT billing practice is to auto-renew over some period. If you only wanted to pay for a 3-month, 6-month, 12-month period, they ought to have told you about it auto-renewing.

When I got the $77/year prepaid term, both times they explicitly told me that once that term was up, I would be auto-renewed for a standard 3-month term.

Solution's simple, and it actually protects your credit ... get your CC cards changed yearly. Some members here tell XM NOT to auto-renew, but I'd trust the bank more.

I have a simple solution -- today I spoke with the "cancellations" department about my renewal -- I got the $77 per year each for 2 vehicles, and simply told them to issue another invoice (they will) -- I will pay by check
