Will a newer nav system have better BT functionality in my '08?

Gf's 2008 isn't performing to her liking, keeps making her re sync over and over again. Navigation is laughable, as it should be in a 10yr old car.

If I found a 2012 nav deck & screen, (1) would it perform any better / newer and (2) is there any hopes of it being plug & play? Or are both expectations silly? She's also looking at trading her RL toward a 2014ish Ford Escape.

Odds are it wouldn't be plug and play unfortunately. And the BT is controlled by a separate module. User fuzzysig tried to import those components and I don't remember it working unfortunately....
