Very strange keyless access issue

So I got my car back from the shop today, and noticed the keyless access issue warning on the dash, as well as the light in the corner. I've never had the problem before so, naturally, found it a bit odd. I also haven't had the car sit that long with battery disconnected, so I thought nothing of it when it started as normal. I figured it would just be a pairing issue, or the car would have to relearn the key, similar to the tpms.

That's the strange part; the key functions almost completely normally. The car will start fine, all buttons work just fine, but neither of the door handles will lock/unlock via touch, and the trunk will not open with the car locked and the key in hand. The red light on the fob flashes when i try either, but nothing happens. I've tried pairing the key with no luck in correcting the issue. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I'm hoping there is a quick fix somewhere, but no luck so far.

Not sure what kind of car you have but remembered seeing this issue posted before. Try this...

Ah, I just sort of assume everyone that would read this has a 2G RL. Mine is an '05.

Does the same thing happen with your other fob?

The only way to fix it is to reprogram the fob to the car again. Unfortunately you can't do it yourself. Programming the fob to the car requires the Honda HDS tool.

Was it a dealer doing your work when this happened? If so, get them to fix it for free. If not, you prob have to fork out an hour of labor to get it done.

Nope, had a shop install a camber kit and coils with edfc. I'm assuming it stems from somewhere in the edfc install then.

It had to have happened when something electrical was being done. I have seen your exact symptoms when a fob is half programmed like something happened during the programming process and it didn't quite get fully programmed. Everything worked except for the touch handles and trunk. It was weird but getting it reprogrammed fixed it.

See the nice way Megatron helped me diagnose the issue? You just wrecked it.

Megatron: much appreciated my good man. As much as I was hoping for a quick fix, sometimes there just isn't one. I'm sure I'll be paying my dealer a visit soon.

Heavy: not quite as appreciated my not quite as good man. As much as I was hoping for a more relevant post from another member, sometimes there just isn't one. I'm sure I won't be paying much attention to any comments made by you anytime soon.

Cheers, and thanks again!

If you seriously had your little feelings hurt by those few words you should promptly add me to your blocked list before there is permanent damage caused.

Cheers.

No butthurt caused, just seemed unecessary. It's like if you were having a nice conversation with a helpful human being, and some random guy jumps in and says something condescending and douchey. You're probably not going to like that person, based only on that encounter.

Wait, hold on, stop right there.

Camber kit? Production or custom? Pics or GTFO.

Well, it is a production kit, but took a lot of custom work to fit/function correctly. It's the Skunk2 pro series camber arms for the 03-08 TSX, but there are several issues to be sorted out. Like a difference in taper where the ball joint mounts, extreme angle on the ball joint itself, and clearance issues. So in the end, it was a fully functional, one-off, completely re-engineered TSX camber kit for an RL, but only after a ridiculous amount of work on my mechanics part. Serious kudos to this man.

As for pics, I have none of the modified arm itself but I am running -4 camber up front to clear a 20x9.5 et2

*edit* here's some pics, just cause.

New update on the issue from the dealership. Apparently the EDFC is somehow interfering with the keyless entry? They said it was due to the way it was wired up, and reprogramming the fob wouldn't solve the issue. I'll be talking with the guy who did the install since the dealer wanted $450 for labor to rewire everything, and I'm not one to agree to such rapery. Maybe he can sort out what went wrong. Anyone ever heard of anything similar though?

Did they even try to reprogram the fob? What they are saying about the EDFC interfering could very well be the case, but it wouldn't hurt to try reprogramming to see what happens.

Don't ever take the dealer at their word. Did they try to re-sync it, or did they just guess? There have been at least 4 members here with EDFC kits and none have mentioned this.

Your symptoms are in line with a partially synced fob and not in line with an interference issue.

It's not wireless, but idk how he wired it in. I'm going to check with him regardless, but I really questioned the legitimacy of their claims.

They offered to, but it works fine for the most part, so I said I'd rather check with my mechanic before I spend a bill on a (albeit very likely) educated guess. Reprogramming is something I can do anytime, and the only annoyance is, "Oh, darn! I have to hit the unlock button in my pocket to unlock my car!"

I told them what I read online, and they offered to try it, but I declined until I can be 100% certain.

Word choice is crucial! It was really nothing personal at all. I was drinking and it all seemed funny to me at the time, lol. Rest assured that some random guy on a small section of this one forum doesn't actually think you're an asshole! haha

Probably unrelated, but I was vacuuming out my car today and noticed the cover on the back of the center console was loose. Instead of just knocking it back in place, curious me decided to pull it off first. So behind the panel, there was a small green connector with a few wires coming out (don't know where they led) that was unplugged, and for the life of me I could not find where it went. Idk how long it's been like that, or what it could be. Any ideas? lol, I feel like I'm dealing with some real gremlins here.
