Valentine 1 problem in 2005 RL

I have seen several other posts of issues with the V1 but none touched on the problem I am having. Mine picks up a faint KA signal from the rear just about all the time I have it pluged in no matter the mode I have it in. V1 works fine in my other vehicle. I have tried both 12V receptacles in the car and went as far to hard wire it to make sure it was not a low voltage issue. I have the 8' hard wire cord so I was able to move it around inside the car. I am aware the nav screen will set off the laser alarm. When I moved it beyond the back window the signal arrow pointed to the side then towards the front, basically I have narrowed it down the shark fin antenna area on the roof of the car. My only solution I have found is to mount it on the passenger side of the windshield with the back titlted about 30 degrees towards the passenger side of the car. Not only does this make it almost impossible to reach to mute, with it tilted away I cannot see the display. Before I permenently hardwire it and go out and buy a concealed display can someone offer me any insight to this issue I am having?

As you know, the V1 is very sensitive, and this is a common problem in many cars these days. You can send it back to Valentine to have them lower the sensitivity VERY slightly, or you can just deal with the problem. I know it's a hassle, but those are your options unfortunately....there is no easy solution to this problem.

I have thought about doing that but KA is 99% of what they use in indiana and I love how far away I can pick it up. I guess I will have to keep moving it around untill i find the sweet spot!
