second Acura iPod link dead in under 4 days...
Hi.
New car. Got the Acura iPod integration at the dealer. It worked on the way home. It worked day 2. Day three did not have it come up at all on pushing the "disk" button.
I went to the dealer and they replaced it and told me the modulator (box) went bad, the first one they had had go bad. It was replaced under warranty. Fine. Drive home without an iPod attached (left it at home).
Get in the next day, run the iPod thing last night as I was learning things, it plays everything. The overall interface stinks, btw...with the wonderful LCD and the big jog dial there is no reason why they could not have done things better. In a nutshell, the gui is not there, the voice I/O is pathetic...anyway, it is not hard to use once you thing in its mode.
Well, this morning on the way to an errand, it would not see
the iPod again. It just doesn't see the unit. The iPod is saying it is charged, etc., so it is seeing voltage from its point of view. All I want is for the unit to work when I turn the car on.
Has anyone had this problem? I am at the point of getting a third party solution, but I am afraid of voiding the Acura warranty down the road.......too many electronic things to worry about, etc.
The iPod is the new 30gb video model (one week old) and works fine on my stereo and computer. Latest firmware, etc. I think the issue is in the Acura stereo to be honest.
Thanks.
JB

When to the dealer and the current regular iPod, 30g and 60g (video?) just sitting still cause the electronics of the Acura/Honda system to "crash". My mechanic rebooted the car (took the batter out and let it sit for 30 minutes or so)...all is well. I had to switch to an older iPod.
Super service at my local dealer...way above anthing I saw at any of 7 Audi shops.
Just FYI. I thought it was a video ipod with videos...it is just that model. The engineer at Acura would not comment on when a fix was coming, but "they are working on it."

I wish I had read this before I had the iPod kit installed, I think I'm going to have to go aftermarket on this.
. I have a 30g iPod video and the system doesn't work at all, even with the latest firmware installed.
What happens is that the iPod says "OK to disconnect". The center console switches to CD-C when I press the CD button. However, I cannot use the seek or disc number keys, and no sound ever emanates from the iPod.
I'm going to have the techs look at this when I have my A-Spec suspension installed shortly.

GPS code 4 digit?
Reason I ask is because both stickers were put on the same card - radio code card.
