RL Navi update question

RL Navi update question
I have the 06 RL and love the vehicle. Especially like the fact that it now includes all of the streets in my neighborhood.
Also have an 03 MDX but none of my neighborhood streets are in there which annoying when mapping places.
If I buy the Navi Update DVD for my MDX ($185), would it have all of the same updated street names as the 06RL?
I don't want to spend $185 (which frankly I think is overpriced) if I can't get my home street in there.
Please let me know. Thanks.

Don't the MDX and RL use completely different nav systems? If so, new software for your MDX would not make it the same as the RL.
That being said, it's hard to tell how updated the data will be for the new version of the MDX's nav software without actually using it. Although the program might be up to date, the data (meaning the streets) might be a couple of years behind.

Yes but they are made by the same company. It's unlikely that they would use different datbases for each Acura car. My guess is that the actual data is the same regardless of the car.
However, I am unable to verify and was wondering if anyone knew the answer.

Actually, it's VERY likely that they would use different databases. The nav software for the RL includes the programs and data on the same disc. Different models use different nav programs that could possibly contain different data.

Check if the part number is different for the RL Navi vs. the MDX one.
My guess is they are different. The database is the same, but the software and user interface is different.

The RL disk will not work in the 03 MDX.
I have an 01 MDX, and originally, it only showed streets in major metropolitan areas. I purchased an update in late 2003, which added "unverified coverage" along with other updates, so the nav now shows streets almost everywhere I go. Are your streets not shown because they are new, or is it a rural area?

Because I live in a new neighborhood. The street comes up in my 06RL but not in my 03 MDX.
Was about to buy the update. However, when I called to place my order, they told me that the disk gets updated once per year and is available in early October.
As a result, I am going to wait until October so I get the most recent update.

At this point in the year, I would also wait. Hopefully it will be in the new MDX disk. If you want me to check my navi, supply me the city, state and a couple of cross streets in the area, and I will see if they show up.
