Removing seat tilt knob

How do you remove the adjuster knobs on the side of the seat that control the tilt of the seatback? My switch is fried, dealer wants $1500 to repair, and I need to remove that knob to make sure nobody tries to tilt the seat - it tilts back but won't come back up once it's down. The service manual just says "remove knobs", but not how - I found something for a different model Acura and the post said there's a clip that needs to be removed before you can pull the knob off, but looking at parts diagrams I don't see one for 2nd Gen RLs. I did find a good photo of the back of the knob on eBay - is that circle tab that sticks up some type of retainer that must be pushed on to release the knob? See photo:
