Park assist sensors ... can i add them to my RL?

I am talking about the parking sensors that are mounted on the bumper.
I know that Acura dealers sell these as an accessory for the RL and i am sure that SOME RLs came with those installed.

My question is, if i buy the sensors and wiring from a dealer, apart from drilling my bumper, what else is required? Are these sensors direct plug-in like the rear view camera or they require a special adapter? Is the 2005+ RL, pre-wired for them?
Also, where will the indication for proximity be displayed? On the Navi screen? On a separate module? How do they work?

Thanks!

Look at the installation directions. Should give you everything you need.

And yes, you can buy them from an internet Acura dealer or your own local dealer.

There is no display. Mine just uses beeps like a metal detector.

I see that you have an 06. I assume that you have a camera? The camera is way better than the beeps. In my opinion, the beeps only alert you too look at the camera.

I respectfully disagree! When I'm in reverse, I am facing the rear, not the front.

I must admit that I always look over my shoulder but I'm trying to train myself to use the camera. When you get its trust, you have no need to look backwards. I watched a FedEx van driver use only his camera the other day and he was brilliant at it. With the 3 zoom levels it can be done very accuratly. I also can back up my receiver hitch right over the ball of my trailer by using the camera. Try doing that with the beeps! The beeper goes nuts when you get that close.

My 07 doesn't seem to have the 3 level zoom, and I don't have a trailer to tow. ;-p

Im sure everyone has their own taste, but I love my camera and it adds a whole new level of visibility when backing out.

Its also a convo piece when the screen changes and the passenger comments.

LoLz at the trailer, are you putting a trailer on the car or something else? Again back to opinion my buddy had the sensors on his '11 GMC HD and he hated it after having a camera on his old truck.

All and all these are just aids, and do not replace common sense and paying attention.
