So my buddy in California has an 06 TL with last fall's updated maps, and I have a Canadian market 06 RL that also has the updated maps. I spent a few weeks driving his while I was out there houesitting and taking care of the cats.

With his, you can get the system to repeat the last spoken directions/notifications it gave, for example if you have people talking in the car, etc and miss hearing it say "take ramp on right in 400 feet", etc. I haven't been able to figure out how to do this with the RL...I also noticed his system shows softkey icons at the bottom of the screen which I don't see on the RL, and one of these is a "voice" softkey that is what allows you to repeat the last voice notification the system gave.

Push big round nob twice in map mode.

Once to see little pop up menu, then again to hear directions.

Not sure it this works during an imminent upcoming turn though, never tried. The on screen directions & count down meter seem to be of more use than the voice.

Big ups for that post - I had no idea there were more menu functions like repeating the voice by hitting the knob during route guidance!
