New RL owner w/ questions
Just registered here. I recently purchased an '05 RL w/ less than 18k miles and love it. I do have a few questions and would appreciate some insight from others. If the issue has already been covered in another thread, a simple link to that thread would be great.
1. I have had a problem with the microphone in the HFL while using the telephone. When I command it to call someone, 8 out of 10 times it gets the name wrong. I mean way wrong. The local dealer diagnosed it as a bad microphone and replaced it. It worked perfectly for a few weeks and started doing the same thing again. The one constant is that both times, shortly before the problem began, the Check Adaptive Front Lighting System notification came on. The notification doesn't stay on if I turn the car off and back on again, but it has happened twice, just before the HFL has giving me problems. The Acura dealer doesn't seem to think they could be related, but I can't find any other contstant. I am taking it back in Tuesday to let them troubleshoot again.
2. I have an old NAV disk (I'm assuming from 2004 since it is an '05 model car). I have XM w/ real-time traffic activated, but am not seeing any traffic info. Is my model properly set up for the real-time traffic option? I have played w/ the traffic icons in the NAV setup, but can't get any consistency (restaurants showed up in Atlanta, but not here at home in Birmingham). Activating the traffic icon seems to have made no changes. Would an updated NAV disk work or am I out of luck?
3. This may be related to the question above, but when searching for places, I can't get the system to find anything local. If I search for Home Depot by distance, for example I may get a location in CA, not Alabama. Thoughts?
Thanks for any help and I look forward to continuing to look through these forums.

Welcome to AZ! I don't have an answer for the mic issue.
XM Traffic is a subscription additional to the regular XM service. First thing you should do is to make sure that XM Traffic is active on your car, get the XM radio ID and call XM directly. Once activated a couple of issues are possible:
a) XM Traffic may need to be refreshed and it may take several attempts to get it done, including calls to XM. This is a known issue....you may want to search.
b) If you live in an area with traffic flow, that should show up. If not (I don't), you should at least see traffic incidents, which is what my experience was.
3) above is nav fickleness and I experienced this too. Pain in the butt....
