Need Upgrade Disk for Navi System

Hi All, I am a new registered member to this site, however I have been coming here over the past couple years to read your posts and comments on issues related to my recently purchased used 2005 Acura RL, as well as my other Acuras.

I am currently looking for help with upgrading my Navi system. My car currently has the original 4.13(B) disk in it, and I am looking for someone who has a copy of the update disk 1.29.00 that is required to update the software past 4.31 (not the White DVD disk that stays in the DVD drive). I have a copy of the White DVD 2010 software 4.82 that I got from a family member who updated their Honda to V4.A2.

I know that there are other posts that are related to this with members noting that they have extra copies of the disk, but because I am a new member I cannot comment on those threads. So, if you are one of those members who has said they have an extra copy of the 1.29.00 update I will pay you for the shipping, and can return the disk back to you once I get it loaded. I appreciate any help in regards to this, so I can a trip to the dealership.

Damn dude! We have some creepers coming out of the wood work today. ^Youre the second RL member today that has been here for over 3 years, but rarely ever post. And since both of you have activity >1%, I know you've been around.

BTW, creeper is an endearing term above. Not like a creep-o.

I am not a creeper, I have just checked out different threads on things like which HID bulbs to buy, how to install them without taking off the bumper etc., because it helps to hear from other ppl who have done it. Now that I am registered, I won't be a creeper or creep-o.

And in regards to not being able to comment, I could not get it to work initially, but after I already put this post up I went over to the other thread and figured it out. So my bad for overposting and the moderator can take this post down to eliminate overposting.

I meant that towards the dude who's been her since '08, averaging a whooping 8 posts a year but still has a 1.1% activity level. I've been here for over a year now and have yet to see him post, but his activity level shows that he's been around (a.k.a. "creepin'").

And don't worry about over posting. When that becomes an issue, ramblings will go on lock down and Moog will go crazy with a plethora of semi-useless information he can't share.

I have one 1.29.00 update disc still available. Let me know your ZIP and I will double check on the cost to ship it out assuming you can pay me by PayPal.

My zip is 80301, and I can pay you with paypal as a gift so there is no charges on either end. Thanks for replying and helping me out.

Anyone else have a copy of the update disk (1.29.00) and would be willing to send me (I can pay for shipping and send it back to you as well if you would like). If you don't want it back, I would be more than happy to send it to others on this forum who are in need! I live in NJ.

I'd be VERY grateful if someone can share.

Thanks!

Once I get the disk and get it loaded up I can pass it on to you if you haven't heard from anyone else. It would probably be early next week.

So I looked further into my Navi disk situation and there is a chance I may not need an update (maybe you guys can help me, I have a 2006 RL). So I looked at what I currently have and it is: Database version: 20050428 and software version 1.32.00. So is it safe to say that I have a software version newer than 1.29.00?

I downloaded 4.92 maps from the internet and when I went to try and install it, it did not work. I kept seeing the Acura screen and it kept rebooting, which is why I originally thought maybe I need to do a software update. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? Before I install 4.92 is there an earlier map update or software version I need to complete first (like 4.31 or 4.31C)?

I have read on other posts that it can be quite tricky to download the software and burn it onto your own DVD. There are certain DVD-R brands that work and some that don't so that may be your issue. Look around for other posts on that. Because with your 4.32 software you do not need the update software as that is only needed for map softwares before 4.31.

I just wanted to let you know that I may no longer need the disk.

Thanks again for your help though.

BluNosr2, I got the disk installed, took a quick minute to update the system and I am now running the newer 4.82. I am in CO, and there were major roads that weren't on my original maps. Thanks for helping me out.
TiSucka Let me know if you end up needing the disk or not. If not I can mail it to someone else who needs it.

Thanks, JustinSS!!

You can probably send it to someone else for now as it seems that I have a newer version. Maybe the version I have didnt upgrade because it wasn't burned properly. Just wondering, which map version did you have prior to upgrading to 4.82? Was it newer than my 4.28. I did read in some places that I may need to upgrade to 4.31 or 4.31C first, so I'm curious what you had before upgrading to 4.82.

Thanks again.

I had version 4.13B which is the original software that came with the car. On the instructions on the case it says if your current version is greater than 4.31 than you can just install the new DVD map software, otherwise you have to run the setup update disk first.

Just buy the latest on Ebay for $70 or wait for the newest maps out later this month and buy then.

I think I need a white disk although i have no idea which one.
My car has a burnt disk in it with no writing.
It works sometimes and sometimes it gives me an error.

Anyone know what DVD I need to work in the 2006 RL?
If I am going to buy an original disk I want the newest one with the most up to date map.

I have seen white disks with multiple numbers. I have no idea which is the newest one.

I have seen 4.A2 , 4.92 , 4.81 , 4.81A , 4.64 , 4.61 , 4.63 , 4.73, etc.....

It appears that the 4.A2 or 4.92 are the newest. Can anyone clarify?

4.A2 is the newest.

The firmware upgrade occurred at 4.31. If you have an earlier version, you need the firmware upgrade to run later versions.

I have the 1.29 firmware update disc, however I am located in Canada so it might not be supercheap to ship. Let me know your postal/zip code and I can get some estimates

I also need to update my navi. I just purchased my 05 RL last month and it seems to have the original software from 05 which is extremely outdated. So if anybody can help I would greatly appreciate it. I live in southern California.

I have the 1.29 firmware available for download. It is 2.5 gigs and requires a dual layer DVD. PM me for a link and instructions. Please make sure you clean out your inbox if you are a new member with PM restrictions, otherwise I won't be able to respond.

Please send me a PM instead of posting to this thread, as I'm much more likely to see it. (Also it's typically not a great idea to share your email address openly on the web, as you're likely to be found by spammers.)

If you are looking for new maps, your best bet is to buy them from Acura (or their official distributor or whatever). If you do, it will come with the update disk. If you bought maps and for whatever reason you didn't get the update disk, then I can help you. I wouldn't recommend installing the update without having a new set of maps to use, as your old maps will no longer work after the update.
