MP3 on DVD+/-R disk?

I searched thru topics and couldn't find answer.
I understand RL can play MP3 files on CD+/-R disk.
Now my question is that if RL can play MP3 files on DVD+/-R disk.
I'm not trying to convert MP3 files to DVD-A files here.
Thanx...

Mp3 Dvd

Just bought an 06 RL Monday. Had a friend burn a DVD-R with a boat load of mp3's. The RL will not read the disc...... bummer

You can burn many tracks using DVDA tools, such as Solo. There was a post in the TL forum (TL has same software as RL) tht claimed 9 groups with 99 tracks per group giving a total of 891 tracks.
There is a lot more information on the TL forum, try these threads...

Good luck

For anyone interested, I have already tried the Solo software, and the discs worked fine in the RL. I couldn't hear much difference in audio quality ... I had been told that the DVD-A forced the RL's audio system to use higher quality D-A converters which supposedly made the sound better.

I recorded standard CD stereo, and didn't play around with multichannel.

From what I remember there was little to no CD Text support.

But were you able to get 9x99 songs on there?

Didn't even try, I copied a couple of CDs, that's all.

Unlike others, I am not a fan of putting huge amounts of music on a single disc, especially when they aren;t sorted hierarchically in folders. The RL's display gets a bit clunky with many entries, especially if you want to find an album that is buried way down there. MP3 CDs with folders are better.

I prefer to load 6 discs and then change them every now and then.

Has anyone found a way to extract DTS and/or DVD-A music files and make a surround-sound mix DVD-R for their RL? I've been playing around with Solo DVD-Audio, but it won't extract the files from DTS or DVD-A discs.

It can be done, you just have to do it in a few steps... check out www.doom9.org, you'll need to rip the disc (one tool) then pull the audio stream out (another tool), then convert it to a file format that your mastering tools can read (another tool), then burn it to an audio using dvd-a mastering tools as mentioned earlier in the thread. You will likely lose sound quality in this conversion, and it will take probably a few hours per disc.... but it can be done.
