I have a TL and RL and people tell me I sound much better on the TL's handsfree, using the same phone, than I do on the RL. People say I sound far away on the RL. Can the mic be tuned? Has anyone had this replaced or fixed, for the same issue? Since CA law is mandatory handsfree, I want to do something to make my voice sound louder. I know about turning off the air and reducing ambient noise but they don't seem to make a difference, and when I talk to Acura customer service on it, they say I sound fine, but everyone else says I don't. Apparently Acura uses headsets, so their audio may be enhanced on their end.

 

I had a similar problem on my 05 RL. I fought like hell with my dealership to change out the mic (they told me there are 2 mics, btw). If you search the forum for microphone you will see there were a number of posts on the mic issue. But after they changed it out, the sound on the receivers end was much clearer, or so I was told. So try to get them to change out the mic(s). Good luck.

 

There is also some sort of microphone calibration in the diagnostics set, but I don't know how it works. I just know I got in there by accident when upgrading to 4.62, and had to take the car to the dealer to adjust. The level was so insensitive I had to yell in order for the VR to "hear" my commands.

This is unlikely the problem, however.
