Little "dots" on the Nav Map?

I upgraded to the current 2011 discs just before Christmas. I just started using the system "zoomed in" with the POI's etc visible and I have noticed I see a lot of little small circle/dots that seem to indicate specific locations, but there is no POI info associated with them when I move the cursor onto them....are these like previously entered destinations/addresses or something? I see quite a few of them around my office area downtown, but then hardly any in other parts of the city, so I am just trying to figure out what they indicate

Sounds like they may be "bread crumbs". It leaves those when there are no verified roads. I allows you to see where you're going so that you can then return by following the bread crumbs.

Hmmm, that's odd, because these are definitely appearing along "verified" roads. I used the nav to get to a business the other day and didn't get any of the "unverified roads" warnings and I noticed a couple of the little dots along the same street.

I noticed them, too, and I had a whole pattern of them within the footprint of a mall I drove by. I think they're businesses/locations that are in the database, since the pattern seemed to match store placement.

It's tracking your position "off-road". So when you're driving across a parking lot, it'll show you those dots.

No, these dots appear right on the streets on the maps just like points of interest, even on streets I have never driven on. It's not the offroad "breadcrumbs" because I drove down a brand new subdivision exit today that isn't on the maps and the breadcrumb symbols look different and I could clearly see it "depositing" them as I drove along.

These dots my system is showing are NOT the same as the offroad breadcrumbs. Last night, I noticed the offroad breadcrumbs appear as filled-in "solid" dots on the night view screen, while the "mystery" dots are still just little small transparent circle outlines, and they usually appear right on the roads as though they indicate a business or something in the POI database....but, when I tried moving the cursor onto one of them, it just comes up with the nearest address and doesn't seem to find a matching business.
