Latest 4.62 Navigation Disc

Has anyone bought a 4.62 nav disc from this eBay seller:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB..._promot_widget

I checked his feedback and it looks like he's sold over 10 of the 4.62 disc and has no complaints.

I wonder where he is getting these "used" DVDs. Could they be stolen and/or clones from China?

I don't think they are copies. Lots of people on Acurazine have tried and have not been able to copy on DVD burner. In the feedback that this seller has for these disc all buyers seem well satisfied. Maybe he has a source at Acura or they are stolen from new or demo RLs?

Perhaps he has a contact that "processes" wrecked Acuras.

Since the update is OEM in the '08 RL and maybe some late '07s how many "wrecked" '07s and '08s can there be? Something doesn't smell right.

The way to copy it is to create an image to your harddrive then write the image to a dual layer dvd after wards. And besides there's a lot of program that takes off the protection in copyrighted CD's or DVD's

I emailed the seller several days ago. I asked for some history on these Nav Discs. He hasn't responded. Guess he does not want to reveal his source.

Yes, I bought one (4.62) and they are legal 4.62 discs, not copies. I don't know where he gets them but my RL is a 2005 and the disc wouldn't load. Kept trying to re-boot. I contacted him and sent him the text from the Acura letter about the 4.62 disc issues that somebody had posted in the forums. He asked me to send it back and he refunded the purchase price.

This guys is legit as far as I'm concerned.

I tried the 4.62 disc in my 05 RL and it did the same thing. It kept trying to reboot. I just got a 4.56A disc. I bought it on eBay for a lot less then 4.62 disc. It works fine and it has the DST option for April/Oct or Mar/Nov.

Hmmm.... 4.56A. Maybe I'll have to try that. I'm not sure if I want to wait for the new 4.62 discs in Jan '08 or not.

It is such a pain to wait, but if the next version (they likely won't call it 4.62?) discs have few problems, it will be well worth the wait. I wonder whether they will have updated location info compared to 4.62. I hope so.

I found this on eBay last week Bob:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123
I email the seller asked him where these came from. This was his response:
Yes they are genuine discs. My brother works for Alpine, CA. These discs are compiled by Alpine for Honda. I got these discs from him. And yes you are right, Ver 4.70 is supposed to be at the dealerships by the end of Jan '08.
