The issue is with the poor sound quality. I have tried two phones of the same model with identical results.

I don't know if it will help the sound quality, but my dealership ordered a new microphone that will be installed next week. I doubt it will help but who knows, worth a try. I will post the results after I get a chance to test it.

I guess our Bose expert flew the coop.
But as much praise as the RL's system gets, I ALWAYS find it overly "treble", especially at lower volume levels, no matter how much bass or center I dial in. IOW, I can go from my ELS-equipped '07 MDX to the RL, and the RL immediately sounds almost tinny by comparison. Crank up the volume and it seems to come to life, but I don't go around with the volume at 20-25 all the time or I'd go deaf.
I agree the RL's system has good definition of upper-register sounds (soprano vocals, glass breaking, etc.), and can also render some impressive bass (the thunder on your demo CD), but getting both from a CD or DVD that has a wide dynamic range seems to be hard for it. I have to say my ELS systems (in my old '06 TL and my current '07 MDX) have just done a better job. You have to be careful with the ELS, though, because too much bass will make it overdrive the speakers and go all muddy.
After a few minutes in the RL, though, I guess my ears adjust, because the Bose starts sounding fine.
