HFL talk button

Guys,

Finally got my 06 RL yesterday replacing my 3rd gen TL. Awesome car.

Need help. Why is it when I push teh HFL Talk button to pair my phone, I dont hear the beep or even anything at all? My TL beeps and waits for a voice command whenever I press the HFL Talk button. Worries me now that I can't even pair my phone or maybe even the Talk button is dead.

Also, the rear headrestraint button on the roof, when I pressed it, nothing happens. Did it go bad too?

Finally, they only gave me a key fob. Is it really expensive to buy a 2nd one? I heard it might be extremely expensive. Please help as I'm itching to get the bluetooth set. Thanks!!!

Being a member since 07 I dont have to tell you that there is a lot of info to be searched.

Here is a thread that may help:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...luetooth+phone

The button only drops the headrests you have to raise them manually

And a new key fob can be 500 bucks from the dealer, you should contact some of the board sponsors.

I've actually done a search but all i found previously was problems pairing or finding the phone. Mine is actually not finding the phone but the seems like the HFL button is dead. No beep at all after I press it. But I'll search again and see maybe I might have missed it in my previous search.

This may be a dumb question, but is the volume up on the radio?

volume is normal. I guess normal in a sense that I was listening to CD before I got home and started to mess with the Bluetooth.

Now, the Homelink doesnt work. It worked on my previous 3rd Gen TL. My garage is the rolling code version and I did it the same way with the TL. Man, starting to regret selling the TL and getting the RL...

Well from what I've noticed the HFL and the Radio have separate volumes. When you hit the button (not the round one, the one you use to answer a call) does the MID change?

Its known that programing those rolling codes takes some patience to get it right

I believe there is seperate volumes for HFL and radio. I had trouble with the homelink then finally figured out I had to press a Learn button.

Got the Homelink done finally but the HFL is still no good. I tried to turn the volume knob after I press the HFL Talk button but nothing. I doubt it but is there a separate volume knob for the Bluetooth?
Also, when I pressed the HFL button, nothing changes in the MID...man, i hope it is not the Bluetooth module that went out...

It may be possible your HFL module is inoperative.

Does your phone allow you to 'see' other Bluetooth devices? Most smartphones have this feature. If your HFL is active you will see the HFL in the device list. If not, likely your HFL module is disconnected somehow or not working,,,and needs dealer intervention.

If you do not have a phone that does this, try a BT laptop or borrow a smartphone.

damn, tampa might be right... sorry.

A shot in the dark might be pulling the battery cables, but I doubt that will work.

If you have the audio displayed in the Nav screen, it will change to an HFL diagram when you press the HFL button.
Also, not trying to be insulting, there are 2 different voice buttons. One for HFL and one for voice commands.

Yup, I think my HFL is fried. When I switch it to audio in the nav screen and pressed the HFL Talk button, the screen didnt change to the HFL screen like my TL did. Also, my blackberry did not "find other device" during a search.
So, looks like I'm screwed with a bad module.

Now, the front passsenger wheel is making noise when I go through a series of bumps. Sounds like a pool ball being shaked in a shoe box. Maybe bushings?

Don't suppose it could be as simple as a fuse?

well, tried to find the fuse related to Bluetooth but could not find it. Open the fuse box under the hood and looked at the back of the fuse box cover. Nothing there indicates a fuse that is related to Bluetooth, not even steering wheel control. Anyone know where to find that fuse?

I had similar problems with the bluetooth phone system. Check out this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-90/can-not-pair-iphone-replace-hfl-module-867170/
You can find the modules cheap and do it yourself. Good luck.
