help with hardwiring radar NOW!!

Ok, I have done it before on my 2000 TL with no problems. But I am unable to get power from the fuse box on my RL, using a different phone cord. The phone cord that I used for my TL was too short so I am using a different one. But there is no power. I tried to connect using ANOTHER phone cord but with no luck! What's going on? I have the service manual and I tried different fuses with no luck.

Can it be the cord? How do I know that I can get the right cord?

I wired my Passport 8500 with no problems. The challenge is trying to find a good ground. I used the accessory fuse.

did you use a regular phone cord or the smart cord from Escrot? Do you have a picture of the ground?

Smart cord. I don't have a picture, but I think I grounded it on the bolt that hold the brake pedal.

Hardwired my V1 with no problems directly to the kickpanel fusebox.

Where have others mounted their detectors? I mounted the chasis up high by the rear view mirror and the remote display on the corner of the dash where it meets the a-pillar. It's completely hidden by NYS's inspection and emissions stickers.

Yep same here, right to the accessory fuse. As for mounting, I used to have mine mounted high, but I've been told (by cops) that for LIDAR, you want the detector mounted as close to the plate or headlights as possible. Cops usually aim the LIDAR gun at your plate or headlights since those are the most reflective parts of the car. Since the LIDAR beam is very narrow mounting it as low as possible will give you the best possible chance, although most of us know that in most cases, when your detector indicates LASER, it's most likely too late. I have put one of those diffuser shields on my front plate in the hopes of delaying the lock a little bit in order to give my detector a chance. Not sure how much it may help, but it was pretty cheap ($25).

Now for RADAR, just the opposite holds true. You want the detector mounted as high as possible to catch the signal, but detectors such as the V1 or 8500 have such a long range, you're not sacrificing much by moving the detector lower. I have caught a Ka signal as far away as two miles.

so, my original question was, why can't I get power from my phone cord? I tried 2 cords with no luck. I will try again with the cord that I used on my old TL and see what happens.

It's hard to say. Like I said earlier, are you sure you're getting a good ground, and ar eyou sure the the source is hot?

I have tried multiple gounds and sources (fuses like rear windows, radio/nav, accessory) still with no power. I have tried different combinations with no luck.
