DRL Off on dash...
I keep seeing DRL off on my dash randomly when I start the car. I have the oem bulbs. I don't know if you can turn them on or off manually. What is the cause of this anyone know? Lol am I turning on the car wrong, all I do is turn the start knob... I also keep my lights on auto always could that have something to do with it? Also since I'm on the DRL topic. I would like to replace the bulbs for some nice white ones or LEDs any suggestion? They are seperate bulbs right not the same highbeams.
A search is your friend: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-90/daytime-running-lights-814967/
Release your parking brake to fix the DRL issue. If it is off you may have a loose connection in the system.
For the LED, same thing.

Good luck.

E-brake and search are good friends of mine.
The search here is not intuitive. Using the "advanced search" is much more helpful to select specific forums, dates, or member's postings. Also, if you are in a certain forum, "search this forum" can be useful. You cannot search more than two words, and a too common word will be rejected.

You are on an incline when this happens. My last car (a Mazda) REQUIRED this procedure to eliminate a loud crash into reverse on an incline, even with the parking brake set. I follow this procedure with ANY automatic and NEVER get the clunk. Some cars will still clunk if you have the brake set so do it this way...
when in your parking spot and your foot on the brake, shift to neutral. Apply the parking brake hard, then take your foot off the brake. You should feel the car drop back a bit and the parking brake hold. Now put it in park. This keeps ALL strain off the tranny.
I'm sure the Honda ones will hold, my wimpy Mazda engine mounts did not survive a few hard engagements and were all replaced under warranty.
This thread answered my question about the DRL as well. I was wondering the same thing this morning, was thinking something was broken.
Now the DRL is just the high beam, right? same bulb? a 9005? So why not just put a nice white 5000K halogen bulb in there and be done with it? Nice and white and no expense or complexity of HID. I hate HID's, Halogens work just fine and can be made white and are so much cheaper. I had 5000K halogens in my Mazda and they looked great and were plenty bright. I tell you something I don't like about my RL HID's they have a very sharp cutoff point. They light amazing for a given distance, then nothing, pitch black. I could do without about 1/4 of the do dads on this car. The AFS, HID, and a few others. Why make something that really does very little and just creates a nightmare for the owner in the future. It's like they make cars for the first owner under warranty and heck with the rest. I'm so sick of it. Like these hybrid cars, how cool, huh? I saved so much in gas!!! Wait, it need's new batteries, $2000 and up!
But back to the bulb, is a 5000K a match for the HID, or would you need a 6000K?

First, red text = sarcasm. Honda mounts suck and will break very easily.
Second, DRLs are high beams run at 4V AC with 2V offset. Same bulb, much lower output. No matter what halogen bulb you put in, the low intensity will make it dull and yellow.
Third, nice rant. The cutoff is completely necessary to keep from blinding oncoming traffic. Not having a cut off HID is illegal in most states. You may think it is worse, but I can guarantee you the low beam in the RL is better than any stock halogen setup. When I drive behind people at night, I illuminate things that their car doesn't.
As for the othe do-dads, while they may be unnecessary to get to work everyday, they are there for safety. Take a look at your insurance premium. The RL is one of the safest cars on the road, and your insurance rewards you for it.
